Papa, Can You Hear Me?

Captur1eMaybe it’s because it’s the anniversary of the passing of our 17 year old ‘first born’ cat Chessie that has me thinking.  Or maybe it’s because I’ve transitioned to the next step of grief.  I could blame Theresa Caputo, the Long Island Medium for bringing me to tears episode after episode lately.  Or perhaps it’s just meant to happen now and I have to go with the flow.  So I’m going with the flow, for now.  Although 2 days ago, I must admit I was desperate to speak with Dad.

You may remember Dad passed away 1.5 years ago and for some reason, I awoke the other day with the intense feeling that I just had to hear from him.  It was so strong that I actually contacted a recommended medium in the area and tried to book an appointment for that very day.  She had nothing available, but instead of writing back to my email, she called me.  Kindly, she explained that she didn’t have any appointments open until Monday which in my head was too far away.  I explained it was too far away, that I felt I needed a reading today.  I wasn’t trying to be pushy, I just wanted her to understand the gaping hole that I had in the center of my being at that moment.  So gaping in fact that I would tell the medium how I felt so strongly that I needed to be read TODAY!

She told me that she wouldn’t be able to read me because she was conducting a radio show that very day from 1-3pm and that if I wanted, I could call in to get a free reading.  It wouldn’t be from her, but from her guest but that perhaps that would help me.  She told me how to get the information, what to do and I thanked her profusely.

So at 1pm, seated in front of my computer, I anxiously radio-ed in to her show.  After awhile, I called in and she took my call, allowing me to be read by her guest.  But a funny thing happened.  I started off explaining that I wanted to speak to my Dad who had passed away and I was immediately explained the following:

Like at Christmas dinner with our relatives, we can’t control them ~ we can’t decide who shows up and who says what.  So relax, allow the reading to flow and let’s see who comes in.

And so I flowed.  But Dad didn’t.  The reading that I received didn’t make sense to me at the time.  I wrote all the information as it was delivered to me, all the while trying to figure out who the brother figure was who came through (I now know ~ a friend who passed in October) and was surprised at the confirmation that I have healing gifts.

But no Dad. Hrmph…Sigh…a little bit of frustration.

So a few days have passed now.  The inkling is still there that I need to hear from him.  I need to know what he’s thinking, if he’s ok and to let him know that I’m finally at peace myself.  But I guess he already knows this, right?  So why am I thinking so much of him?

Have you ever gone to a Medium?  Have you received a message from a loved one who has passed?  Do you believe in Mediums?  Please share!

Shine On!

  1. May I ask something Yvonne? Have you tried communicating with your dad in your dreams? I have talked to both my maternal grandfather and my paternal grandmother in my dreams. It has been wonderful! Especially the conversations with my grandmother. If you feel that it is okay, then maybe you can try? I don’t mean to interfere, just a small suggestion. 🙂

    • I love suggestions Line ~ that’s why I opened up today with my post! I was hoping for help so thank you! I have dreamed of my Dad and he was great! I just don’t know why I had such an overwhelming sense of loss and wanting to connect with him. It’s not any special day for him at all.

      • Yes I believe. Yes, I’ve gone to see one. Yes, the nesaage was comforting for the friend whose daughter I contacted. Having said that , I know several mediums personally. Some are better than others, so be discerning. If the first reading doesn’t ring true, try another medium. And do you have to have a good reason? No. It’s ok if all you need is to hear that person’s soul respond to you. If you feel the need that strongly, then why not? You have nothing to loose.

  2. I’ve never been to a medium, but I have longed to speak with my father often, especially these days, since I’m writing a memoir about my childhood. I feel close to him, however. For whatever reason, I prefer to trust my ability to communicate to him and his to me without the assistance of anyone else. The comment above about dreams seems like a good suggestion. I dream about my father often. Hope you get what you need, my friend!

    Hugs from Ecuador,

  3. We do regressions and sometimes progressions (don’t actually know if that is the right word for going into future lives). I have been regressing my daughter for years and years. Solved all kinds of problems and gotten tons and tons of information. At the end of each session we ask if there’s anyone who would like to tell us anything or ask anything. In the beginning a lot of people and animals showed up but they weren’t people we recognized. They were all behind a velvet rope, like the one’s you would see in a bank or theater or shop to control the flow of traffic. We learned to be very, very specific, right from the beginning. We asked if anyone we knew in this life time wanted to get in touch with us and that did the trick, except for the animals, some of whom had been with us before and were excited to see us. 🙂 You can contact people if you sit quietly and just ask over and over again. The thing is…you may not get anything but when you do…believe what comes through. Do not dismiss what you see or hear. It might not make sense, at first but just keep trying. Protect yourself with a white light all around you, when you do anything like this. Just be ready to believe that your mind isn’t playing tricks on you. People on the other side don’t feel the way we do. Emotions are for us, not them. They love us but it’s a gentle, sweet, understanding kind of thing. They see how silly all of this is…all the drama we make up. It’s just not important to them because they know it isn’t real and that we will come to see that when we leave.

      • Good luck. It may take a couple of tries but keep at it. It’s really easy, once you get the hang of it. You can put on some soft music and play that every time you do it. That way when your brain hears the music it will know what you want to do and take you there. Just believe yourself. 🙂 Hope you find what you are looking for.

  4. I like how you followed what you were sensing. I do that a lot, though I haven’t spoken with any family members who have passed. I did see a reiki healer years ago when i was sick and she communicated like this and it felt genuine. She was the one who helped me to connect with my own soul. I follow what I am sensing these days..and sometimes the message is not all clear at first.
    Much love to you,

  5. I have not been to a medium but have been wanting to go to one for some time. My first husband died about 15 years ago, so I’ve always been curious to see if he would “show up”. He appeared at the reading of my sister-in-law not too long ago. But now that my mom has died (just 3 1/2 weeks ago), I am more determined than ever. I want to make sure I go to someone reputable, and my sister-in-law’s sister knows someone. Just need to get that scheduled… 🙂 Good luck connecting with dad… I can so relate to the desire.

    • Thank you ~ I thought perhaps I wasn’t alone in that desire to connect. May you find peace as well. I am glad your 1st hubby appeared to you SIL. How lovely that he came through for you! ♥ I’m so sorry to hear about your Mom. Big heartfelt hugs to you. xoxo

  6. I’ve never gone to a medium. But – I have had my cards read. (Or – is that the same thing?)
I believe that there are a lot of scammers who prey on people & take advantage of their emotions. But – I also believe that there are real people out there that have a special gift to communicate with spirits.
Try thinking of your dad before you sleep & maybe he will show up. I have had my brother & other family members appear in my dreams. I usually have no idea what’s really going on. But – simply seeing them makes me happy.

    • I have dreamed of him which made me happy. I think I even wrote about it on my blog. I am better today. I guess I just had an overwhelming urge to hear from him. I wondered if it happened to others who have lost loved ones. Thanks for sharing RoSy! ♥ Abrazos como siempre.

  7. I wonder if your sense of needing to hear from him was actually him connecting with you? Perhaps he was already there, telling you, he sees you, he knows your heart, he hears your joy and wonder and awe and the miracle of you?

    Hugs my friend.

  8. I thought you might enjoy reading this issue of Om Times There is an article that relates to what you are asking and how you can answer your own questions using your own abilities. We all have them some more than others but messages come all the time from the ‘other side’.Tune in relax and have some fun connecting. I also love the one about working with angels. Cover has James Van Praagh, who is always informative.

  9. I lost my father when I was a child, and while I remember the feeling of love and security I got from him, I don’t remember the sound of his voice. I still have a pair of his pajamas in one of my drawers. I love when friends and relatives tell stories of his misguided youth; he was only 39 when he died so I’m glad he lived it up while he had the chance! It will be 40 years (!!) this September, and I still think about him every day. I think that’s a legacy in and of itself. I hope one day long after I’m gone I will still be in people’s hearts.
