In the infinity

of life

where I am,

all is perfect, whole and complete.

– Louise L. Hay

At age 90, surrounded by loved ones, Louise Hay passed away peacefully in her sleep of natural causes on August 30, 2017.  Many will remember her legacy of healing through her business  Hay House as well as the plethora of books she authored.  She shared authors who brought peace, love and empowerment into our lives through Hay House.

I remember the first time I was given her book, You Can Heal Your Life back in 2002.  I had breast cancer and I was so troubled by the diagnosis and feared what lay in store for me.  A friend tried to explain how in reading her book, I would be healing myself, but back then, I wasn’t very spiritual.  However, the dear-hearted friend who gave me the book was further along on the spiritual journey than me and I trusted her with my heart.

So I read You can Heal Your Life and I began to shift – in my thoughts, in my words, in my healing, and with love in my heart.  I have never looked back at the woman who held a book in her hands disbelieving that Louise Hay’s simple message could change me so profoundly.  And yet, here I am.

Louise Hay’s book began my spiritual journey and my soul healing.  I am ever grateful to my friend for opening the door to me by giving me her book.  I am ever grateful to Louise Hay for believing in herself and for being the light in so many lives.  She helped many of us find the light again.  God Bless You Louise Hay.  Thank you for my healing – one book, one thought, and one affirmation at a time.

Shine On!

Book Shares Wanted

BookShares

I love to share books.  Having a kindle means I can keep my favorites all in one spot.  I can reference quickly and easily when needed.  One of my staples is  You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay (click for more info on blog post) which I frequently search when a friend confides an ailment to me and wants more information about it.  The books written by Florence Scovel Shinn are also in my fingertip library to keep me humming along with my affirmations when distractions slide me away from the Law of Attraction.

There are little escape books which make me feel good to read, relax and rejuvenate.  There are long-time favorites like Gone With the Wind, The Secret Garden and various books written by friends who are authors.  There are the usual array of positive, inspiring books in there as well.

I love to read (and to write).  Usually I read before bedtime for a bit.  My tastes vary, but I have found my local library on my kindle to be a plethora of great reading material for free.  I like to learn when I read and I don’t mean manuals.  I usually have one or two books going at a time on my reading list.

Do you enjoy reading?  What type of books do you gravitate toward?  Would you please list a book or two that you find enjoyable or meaningful in the comments below?  Even an author that you like is appreciated!  I love to read all types of books so it doesn’t have to be spiritual, although I don’t enjoy reading horror-type books.   I’d love to add to my list of future reading material and I thought it would be wonderful if we could all share what we are reading or what we have read and enjoyed.  Thank you in advance for sharing!

Love the One You’re With

74612352_I ♥ Me!

Stop for a moment.  Without thinking, answer this simple question,

“Do you love yourself?”

What was the answer that came out of your mouth first?  Was it an enthusiastic YES!  Or was it hesitant silence?  Or was it a quiet “maybe” or was it a shake of the head meaning “no.”  There’s no right or wrong answer at this time.  It matters not what your immediate answer was because we are starting with baby steps.

We are starting this 2014 with LOVING YOU!

So let’s begin…

Commit to Loving Yourself this year.

Every bit of you from the tip of your head to the tip of your toes!

1.  Find a mirror, look at your beautiful self and repeat to your image…

“I Love Me.

I Love You (insert your name).”

2.  How did it make you feel?  Were you uncomfortable?  Were you happy?  Did you smile at yourself?

3.  Whatever your reaction was, it was perfect for you at this time!

Take my hand and with time, we will make it an even better one!

One baby step at a time!

4.  Your job today (should you choose the Love theme of 2014) is to do the above exercise 3x today.

Note how if makes you feel when you do it!

That’s it!

You are loved.

Shine On!

Exercise from Louise Hay’s book, You Can Heal Your Life.

Have you ever read it?  Did you like it?

Today is…

70024452_

Today is a day of completion.  Thy will be done today Lord not mine.

Miracle follows miracle.  I give thanks for this perfect day.

Please give me a definite lead.  Let me know if there is anything I need to do.

The above is the set of affirmations which came to me this morning when I hit the snooze button on my alarm clock.  The memorized phrases came unbidden as they often do and as usual, I simply went with the flow, repeating them until the alarm blared again, announcing it was really time to get up!

I’ve spoken about affirmations before in many posts.  If you search Louise Hay or Florence Scovel Shinn on my blog (below I’ve given you a few links!) you’ll find oodles of information in case you’re interested.  For me, affirmations are a way to psychically, emotionally and sometimes perhaps physically, change the channel in my mindset.

I can only speak for myself, but there have been times where my mind repetitively blocks the flow of energy to my body by concentrating on a thought that’s not healthy for me.  So when I realize this, I simply change the channel by introducing another thought, another affirmation.  It’s like dealing with a child who’s attracted to the flame of a candle.  You simply take her hand and lead her to something that’s more interesting so that she forgets about the allure of the flame and changes her focus to something less dangerous and more positive.  As a parent, you probably know what I mean, don’t you?

So I find that my mind sometimes needs a little reset button ~ even a delete button and I’ve learned how to change the channel in order to stay on track.  It’s really quite simple.  I have an arsenal of affirmations which speak to me.  I listed them and can pull up the file as needed.  Of course, I’ve been doing this for awhile now so many of them are already memorized.  It’s like checking the file cabinet in my mind.

Here are a few I use often:

Divine Love floods my consciousness with health and every cell in my body is filled with light.

Money comes to me under grace in perfect ways.

I give thanks that I am abundantly supported.

I am blessed beyond my wildest dreams.

I give thanks that the life that is mine is filled with love,

laughter, health, wealth and happiness for all.

I am thankful that I am led today where I am most helpful

and I share happiness wherever I go.

I hope this helps you as it has helped me in my life.  What do you do to reset your brain when you’re worried, scared or sad?  Connect with me and let’s share so that we can all benefit!

Happy Thursday to YOU!

Shine On!

Daily Prompt: First Light

Remember when you wrote down the first thought you had this morning? Great. Now write a post about it.

Looking for a New Normal…Continued…

Welcome to A New Normal and Loving Yourself!

Welcome to A New Normal and Loving Yourself!

When disaster strikes, be it a hurricane, tornado, tsunami, job loss, illness, addiction, depression, accident, disfigurement, death, divorce…the aftermath is always about finding a new normal.  That’s it in a nutshell as they say.  You need to find a new normal and keep living ~ taking baby steps forward in life.  And I don’t say it’s easy to do because I wouldn’t lie to you, but I will tell you that it is do-able because there are people who have done it before you…and there will be those who will come after you who will triumph as well.

Right now, it’s you who I’m thinking of…you, who in this changing world, has to change as well whether you want to or not, whether you like it or not, because it’s required in order to continue to live.

They say water finds it own level…so like water, you will find your own level, your new normal…but it takes practice, it takes courage, it takes trust and endurance.  Sometimes it takes asking for and being open to receiving help ~ having a hand to hold as you endure this journey of life.  We are all connected here…if you look long enough and not give up, you’ll find a trust-worthy person to help you.  But you must be willing to help yourself…you must take that first step…and watch out my dears…it’s a LULU!  It’s going to change your life for the better! 🙂

Because once you’ve taken that first decided step towards helping yourself, whatever the situation is, you open yourself up for change to occur.  Most people shy away from change, if not run like hell from it.  It’s most likely human nature as the unknown strikes fear in many of us.  However, that’s when the most growth occurs and when that golden ring that you’ve been reaching for, finally comes into grasp!  It’s taking that chance into the unknown that leads to the next step for the better!

The key to all of it ~ the absolute key to making the new normal easier to live,

to accept and to transition to ~ is one simple ingredient.

Love yourself.

Whew…right?  You thought it was going to be hard.  But love yourself…heck that’s easy, isn’t it?  Perhaps you’re thinking that I”m off my rocker…well, you might be right 🙂  but certainly, if you take a moment, quietly, calmly when you have a few minutes to yourself with no distractions…slowly, repeat aloud in a mirror to yourself, “I love you” 3 times and notice how it makes you feel.

How do you feel?  In the depths of your soul, how did stating, “I LOVE YOU” to yourself make you feel?

Truly, I hope that it made you feel elated, that you hugged yourself and smiled.  I hope that repeating that powerful statement gave you a warm fuzzy feeling right down to your core!  I hope that you feel comfortable saying it and that you can repeat it 3 times a day everyday!  Because as Robert Schuller of the Crystal Cathedral used to say, “God loves you and so do I.”

On the flip side, if saying “I love you,” aloud to yourself made you feel anything else, then we have some work to do so that you can embrace the new normal!  You think that you love yourself, but when you have to actually say it in a mirror and watch your face as you repeat this powerful statement, sometimes uncomfortable feelings come up.  For me, I know that I shy away from saying it to myself because I feel unworthy, I don’t feel like I’m enough and I feel uncomfortable, like I’m being selfish or egotistical.  It’s distracting to hear myself say those words and yet, I say and mean them all the time to my family and friends.  But loving myself ~ well, that’s been a tough one for me.  What’s helped me is an author whom I’ve talked about before named Louise Hay.  Below is Louise Hay’s Love Yourself, Heal Your Life Workbook.  A simple, no nonsense way of doing just that ~ healing your life ~ Louise gives step by step exercises which are easy to understand, for anyone needing a new normal ~ for those who want a new chapter in their lives ~ and for you who wants a brighter day!

Just Love Yourself…and if you don’t know how…then pick up Louise’s book for yourself!
Make it your own holiday gift ~ it’s a keeper ~ a life changer ~ and you deserve it!

What about you?  How do you feel about yourself?  Do you love you?

Let’s start there!

Love You? Love Me?

“The most important thing in life is to

learn how to give out love,

and to let it come in.” Morrie Schwartz

I think that for me, giving out love is easier for me than receiving it.  Is that the same for you?   My gravatar and my chosen career is SendOut Love…I send out love through my blog, through my cards and through my connections to others.  To me, it comes easily and I love the enjoyment that comes with giving from the heart as it brings happiness to others as it in turn, brings me a wealth of happiness.

Multiple times a day I say, “I love you” to my family, friends, loved ones, 2 sweet kitties etc…and I mean it from my heart.  I am a very affectionate person by nature ~ spontaneously hugging and kissing my family daily.  I love that human connection and have more than once, reached out to a stranger that I felt needed a smile and a hello which have sparked many conversations much to the chagrin of my family who want to get going and not start talking in the grocery store to others.  But I get that ‘feeling’ and I just go with it.

Self-love on the other hand, in the scheme of things, is usually on the lower end of my ‘to do’ list.  Yes,  I love me, but somehow I feel it’s selfish and ego-istic to say that I love myself…at least that’s what I used to think.  Nowadays, I am finding that the more I love me, the more I love others.  As I’m beginning to take better care of me, I am finding that it’s changing the dynamic I have with others ~ for the better!

I’ve shared how routines can truly get us in a rut and it’s hard to break free when we’ve been so out of tune with ourselves.  I’m the first to admit I’m guilty of this, especially this year as I’ve been bombarded with crisis after crisis.  I felt like I was a chicken running around without a head, but no more.

I’ve told you about You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay.  Louise is a big believer in self-love and has many exercises in which you can bolster the love you have for yourself so that you can love others.  In fact, I highly recommend Louise’s book as it changed my life!

I remember when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer 10 years ago and BAngel gave me Louise’s book.  Dutifully I opened it and began to read.  Immediately I scoffed at the idea that my cancer was a dis-ease in my body and that with self-love, affirmations and a shift in thinking, I could help myself to heal.  At that time, my mind immediately turned off ~ what sort of hocus pocus was this book ~ I had CANCER!  Not a head cold or something that didn’t matter.  I was fighting for my life!  What was BAngel thinking?  And she was someone whom I’d known for years and respected…had she gone off of her rocker with this type of thinking?

So I went on with my life, lumpectomy, double mastectomy, chemo…until one day while laying in my bed after chemo, with my darling cat purring next to me on the bed, I picked up the book again…it had been a few months since I had tossed it by the wayside.  I started to read it in the quiet of the afternoon and it was as if a light began to grow inside of me.  The theories Louise explained so simply in her book grew inside of me like a small seed of hope.  Her ideas made complete sense to me and I felt like I spent the rest of the afternoon nodding my head in agreement with her.

I won’t take away the joy you will find in reading her book, but I will leave you with a link to get it!  You’ll know when the time is right to read it ~ when you’re ready, I”ll be here ~ we can have fun together knowing that YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE!
