Do You Believe in Friday the 13th?

fridaythe13th

Are you superstitious?  Do you believe in bad omens?  Do you walk around a ladder instead of underneath it?  If a black cat crossed your path, would it bother you?  Do you believe in Friday the 13th and all the hullabaloo about it?  Have you felt like you ever had bad luck on a Friday the 13th?  Do you think you are manifesting it?

I’m really interested in reading what you think so please comment below!

Personally I’m not bothered by Friday the 13th.  I lived in Spain years ago and for Spaniards, it was Tuesday the 13th which was the problem and not Friday, so I guess I’ve simply adopted that way of thinking.

But for those of you who are fear leaving your home today, going to work, traveling, investing or doing anything outside of your comfort zone, you are not alone.  You may have something called…

friggatriskaidekaphobia:  fear of Friday the 13th!

Yes, it’s true.  It’s a real phobia and there are many people who suffer from it.  So I guess I’m asking, are you one of them?  No judgment here, you know I love to connect with you!

Shine On!

Misifusa was born wearing rose-colored glasses ~ always the dreamer, she looked to romance, to daydreams and to possibilities and never let go of the word HOPE.  She hardly ever arrived early to any appointment nor meeting in her life with the one exception ~ her wedding ~ to which she arrived early as she was so happy to be marrying her husband whom she loved with all of her heart.  He stood by her throughout her lifetime, always standing by her side, holding her hand and lending her his strength when she was weak.  Theirs was a special love ~ a mutual understanding as only 2 Pisces can merge and unite.  Their wedding song was to be a theme throughout their lifetime together, “I love you just the way you are,” and they radiated that love and kinship throughout their blessed marriage.

Misifusa was blessed with 2 incredible sons with her husband.  She adored them and was so proud of who they are ~ she enjoyed every moment with them and always saw the best in them.  Their house was filled with love and peacefulness.  She always felt so grateful that she was blessed with their sons.  They brought her much joy, laughter and peace.

She also enjoyed her cats and felt an amazing bond with most animals, with the big exception of snakes and birds.  She was fond of fresh flowers and had an array of orchids growing in her home.  She disliked housework and cooking and enjoyed a good meal out with her family ~ laughing and smiling.  She was fond of calling her faults “her charms” and many wished she weren’t so ‘charming’ but she found it whimsical and fun to love her whole self.

People naturally flocked to her and she always rooted for the underdog.  She loved helping others and listening to their stories.  Nothing made her happier than when she could make a difference in someone else’s life.  She adored helping them to shift their thinking and to help them to see the light in the darkness.  She strove to shine like a star in the darkest night, hoping that by her example, she could inspire others to find faith, hope, love and joy in their everyday lives.

She survived breast cancer and other health issues which knocked her down for a bit, but she overcame them with sheer endurance and lots of love from her family and her talented doctors.  Her role as the peace-maker was self-given and she reveled in trying to help others to find peace in their lives and with others.  She felt her intuitiveness and found strength in her faith, relying on angelic help when she encountered sadness.

She enjoyed her SendOutCards business as it brought her much joy to send out love to others.  Her published books were a cathartic writing which was well-received by readers all over the globe.  She loved revisiting Spain where she had lived for a time and spoke fluent Spanish which she taught for 11 years in the public school system.  She found peace at the beach, watching the waves roll in.  She loved being on the water and would awaken early just to watch the sunrise in the peacefulness of the mornings with her cup of coffee.

She loved her family and friends and drew great strength from them as well.  She adored singing, reading, writing and relaxing with family and friends.  At times she could be fearless, but mostly she was conservative in her actions to her chagrin.  She launched the highly successful The Presents of Presents and could often be found traveling the world after her boys graduated college.  She was grateful for everyday and her mantra was:  Yesterday was the past, tomorrow is the future.  Today is a gift, that’s why it’s called THE PRESENT.

Gratitude 29 ~ Gracias Gracias Gracias

At age 12, my Dad brought me to my first Broadway play which was Evita.  I remember it was also the first time I wore high heels which he had bought for me.  Dad loved listening to the music from Evita and we listened to it over and over while we played checkers & backgammon in the living room at night.  It was then that I think my love for the Spanish language began and stayed with me.

I remember knowing the lyrics of the entire show and I sat on the edge of my seat the entire time, lip-syncing every word so as not to bother the people in front of me.  I was mesmerized by the story, the music, the lights ~ the entire experience.  I will always remember Patti LuPone and subsequently Madonna for their portrayals of Evita Peron.  When Evita the movie came out, Dad bought me the dvd…it was our special bond.

I began learning Spanish around the same time and I remember my Dad telling me that it was my only talent and that I should pursue it.  Mathematics was not my strong point, but languages ~ well there, I excelled.  I spent my Junior Year in Malaga, Spain where I fell in love with all things Spanish and felt so very much at home that my parents feared I wouldn’t return to finish my last year of university in the States, but I did.

So today I am thankful for my Dad’s wisdom and introduction to Spanish.  So Dad, today'[s gratefulness goes to you.

Gracias, Gracias, Gracias…

May Blessings…

“May flowers always line your path and sunshine light your day.
May songbirds serenade you every step along the way.
May a rainbow run beside you in a sky that’s always blue.
And May happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through.”
~Irish Blessing

I saw this lovely blessing recently and thought I’d pass it along to you today.  Seeing that it’s the first Friday of May, I thought a little bit of blessings, love and rainbows might do the trick to end the work week on a high note.  No matter that it may have been a long week for you (because it certainly has been for me), the weekend is on its way and that’s always a good thing in my book!

Family time, a bit of relaxation and some time to recoup before Monday starts the week again.  It’s funny, on our calendars, we start the week with Sunday, but I have never felt that the week begins on Sunday.  Instead, I’ve always thought of Sunday as the day of rest, my favorite day of the week before the hustle and bustle begins again.  Perhaps it’s the Spanish life that beats inside of me or my Mother’s mantra that Sunday is a day of rest.  For whatever reason, Friday is the winding down day and Monday revs up the week for me.  Am I alone is this way of thinking?  What’s your first day of the week in your head?

Take a moment today to look around you ~ recently we’ve had a lot of rain and nature has blossomed everywhere it seems…a lush green has settled in my yard and the surrounding areas and it looks so beautiful.  I believe Spring has Sprung…

‘May the month of May bring you beauty to surround you,

love to protect you and hope to ignite your soul!’ ~ Misifusa’s Blessing

Happy Friday!
