to Glow…is to Know…

When we shine our heartlights, we glow….and when we glow, we know.  But what is it exactly that we know by glowing?

We show strength in shining our own special light into the world.  As we shine, we recognize others shining too.  In meeting other heartlights, many times we bond for we both know something that some have yet to learn.  We know that love, patience, kindness and presence increases our glow and allows others to see our heartlight shining as well.

We love, we forgive and we simply are who we are when we take the time to know ourselves and to shine our heartlights in the world around us.  In the movie Avatar, the phrase, “I see you,” is an acknowledgement of opening the mind and heart to the present moment and to spiritually be in that moment with the other person.  It is the ultimate compliment to understand another person, to truly love them for all of themselves and not the just bits and pieces we prefer.

Imagine for a moment our world full of presents of presence and heartlights twinkling like stars in the night sky.  Imagine the peaceful planet we’d inhabit if we were all to shine freely and not hide our heartlights or dim another’s.  I daresay it would be this side of Heaven.

Namaste is another way to acknowledge the divine spark we each hold.  It is amazing when someone says ‘Namaste’ and we know we have been greeted soul to soul.

So this week, perhaps as you go about your days, you could take a moment to connect with the other heartlights that you meet along the way.  Even if it is a fleeting moment, you could smile with a twinkle in your eye and know that your heartlights have connected.  Try it and let us know how it goes for you!  I am going to do it as well!

It seems that we all have an expiration date which most of us do not know.  So to live without remembering that knowledge is to hide our heads in the sand like ostriches.  I’m not saying that we should live in fear of death, but to remember that this present moment is indeed a present. A gift that we should not waste.

Life moves quickly these days.  Many people live longer lives, but take less time for themselves.  Rushing to every event, whatever it may be, keeping busy on the computer, the smart phones etc., takes time away from being present in the present moment.  I understand we all have responsibilities, but we must carve out a few moments to simply be in the stillness of the present moment.  To reconnect with ourselves, our families, nature and all the gifts that are ours when we stop the rush in the insanity of life.  To actually take a moment to breathe, to listen to our hearts and minds, to hold hands, to reconnect with loved ones, to simply love that we are here, right here and now, wherever we may be, in whatever capacity life holds for us.

Time is a gift.  Use it wisely.  Don’t squander it on meaningless pursuits.  You can make a difference in your life and in the lives of others. You have the power within you.  Be grateful for the present and use your power for good, for you are loved.

Do You Recognize Yourself As A Beautiful Person?

When we  look at our struggles, our scars and all that we have endured in our lifetimes, we have a choice.  We can allow them to define us and stay in the victim mentality or we can allow them to exalt us into a place of victory.  The hard part is letting go of the poor me attitude and embracing the triumphant attitude of I can, I did and I am able.

Getting stuck in the limelight of defeat is something that happens over time, sometimes suddenly and sometimes gradually.  The best part is when we can acknowledge that this is where we are and then find the strength to observe, to plan and to move on with our lives.  I think that’s the tricky part ~ to change the way you see things in order to make them better.  To let go of the defeat and allow the healing of our heart, mind and soul to begin.  To move on from it, to forgive and to begin again ~ just like how the dawn comes each and every day.  We can begin to see the light at any given moment or we can continue to squint in the cloak of darkness until it becomes too unbearable to us.  And that’s when we change.

I see the beauty in people.  I have always had that inner wisdom.  My compassion for others who are hurting sometimes is like a beacon and people are drawn to me and I to them.  It happens a lot lately for it seems we all have a story of struggles to tell and many times I am both the receiver and giver of such stories.  I think it’s much like an energetic connection of sorts that through the Divine, reaches out to connect people in the most unusual ways.

It’s a gift that I relish when I realize that we’ve connected and that perhaps by our meeting, has left us both with present of a moment of precious presence and understanding spirit to spirit, soul to soul.  Perhaps a fleeting moment in universal time, but important all the same.  To acknowledge the gift of presence, even for a brief time, is priceless.  Changing the way we look at the world, is a shift that benefits all of us.  To see that we are not cloaked in misery, but instead have the capacity to change our thinking to better ourselves and the world is The Presents of Presence.

I see the beauty in you when you allow your heartlights to shine and you are not hiding them behind closed doors in the dark.  Shining our heartlights helps ourselves and others to heal, to expand and to explore all the beauty life has to offer.  Do not hide dear friends.  You are worthy.  You have inner power.  You are loved.  You are beautiful to me.  I see you. ♥

What Love Is Not

We write, speak and throw the word LOVE around often.  You’ve heard the saying, love makes the world go ’round and you get what you give.  But what isn’t love?  Do you know?

Growing up, I knew I was loved for I heard the words many times.  I have friends who didn’t hear those words from their parents’ mouths and yet, they still know that they are loved.  But I believe there are all types of love in our world.  There’s the burning passionate love and there’s the quiet acceptance of another person known as love.  There’s the love of your child, the love of a friend and there’s the love of mankind.  There’s loving a pet, loving what you do and loving life!  Most importantly, there’s self-love.  These are just a few examples of different types of love that are good.

But sometimes, what is perceived as love, is not, in fact, love because there are subtle differences.  There are disguises in love that I’ve learned in my lifetime.  Here are a few examples of What Love Is Not.

Love is NOT:

Repeating I love you constantly in order to hear it back,

Nor is it withholding the words I love you in order to hurt.

Expecting someone else to make you happy,

Nor is it being responsible to be another person’s everything.

Refusing to connect, share and speak in order to increase understanding,

Nor is it talking without listening.

Pointing fingers at mistakes,

Nor is it refusing to forgive when mistakes are made.

Holding back,

Nor is it pushing away.

Being in control of another person,

Nor is it being controlled by another person.

Shallow, superficial or pretentious,

Nor is it temperamental and able to be whisked away at the slightest provocation.

Suffering in silence,

Nor is it lashing out with undue violence.

Holding grudges, getting even,

Nor is it keeping track, tit for tat.

What Love IS:

Love is compassionate.

Love understands.

Love listens.

Love shares.

Love forgives.

Love is kind.

Love takes time.

Love supports.

Love gives.

Love grows.

Love holds hearts, minds and bodies tenderly.

There are so many more examples of love, but I will leave you to add to the list in the comments section below.  Loving another person is simple even when life is complicated at times.  Recently I was told that I love with my whole heart and that’s my problem.  Perhaps it is, but it’s the only way I know how and the love I feel for all of you has brought me much peace in my life.  I want you to know that you are loved, every single one of you, for who you are.

How To Weather Storms In Life

When we have storms in our lives, we choose how we face them.  With fear, we can run and hide, hoping that it will blow over.  We can close our eyes and remain oblivious to them and not deal with the storm which is staring us right in the face.  Or we can slowly open our eyes and work our way through the clouds, through the storms and into the sunshine.

Storms shake up our world, our views, our relationships and our sense of self.  Like gardeners who prune their plants in order to shed what isn’t growing, in our lives, storms do the same.  Storms blow over in time.  Allowing the storm its time to shake us up is a good thing I think.  It causes us to deal with our fears, to move forward into solid thinking and to find balance where perhaps there was none.  We’re usually on shaky ground when the storm hits and we feel its full impact when we are not balanced with inner peace.  That’s when the fear emerges and we choose fight or flight.  But those aren’t the only two options.  The third option is to ride out the storm.  I think that’s the hardest option, but the most beneficial for our spiritual growth.

Riding out the storm takes courage.  It takes facing the storm, allowing it to roll in and bluster around us.  It causes us to find our balance, dig our roots in deeper and take a deep breath in order to stay in the eye of the storm.  To know, with full knowledge, that we can ride out the storm, grow from its affects and emerge with our heartlight intact, facing the sunshine.

It’s not easy.  It’s a choice.  It’s holding our inner peace while the storm rages.  It’s a process.  It’s not always forward moving through the storm.  Sometimes it’s like dancing a cha cha, moving backwards and forwards until staying in the same place isn’t feasible to us anymore and then we make the choice to step forwards towards the sunshine ~ or step backwards to return to the darkness of the past.  It’s letting go of what was, what could be and allowing ourselves to find inner peace simply with what is.

It’s natural to feel alone in a storm.  That’s when we reach out to our soul family for a loving embrace, a hand to hold, a loving connection which helps us to hold onto the knowledge that there is sunshine on the horizon, even when we can’t see through the clouds, the thunder and the lightning.  It helps when they can hold the vision with us so that if we take a step back into the storm, we are fortified with the kind reminder that there is sunshine when we move forward.

So if you are riding out a storm in your life, please know that there are others who care.  Eventually we all have storms in our paths, some are big dangerous lightning-filled storm clouds, filled with big raindrops and clanging thunder that sweep us off of our feet and toss our realities, changing them forever.  Some storms, simply shake us up so that we can see with the help of the lightning, be cleansed by the rain and hear the words of reality before the sun rises.  Either way, I think storms are good in the end.  They are a chance to grow, to find balance and to fortify our inner wisdom and peace.

Storms let us choose to grow or to remain sodden.  Face the sunshine dear friends.  Storms only last as long as you allow them.  You always stop crying eventually.  So feel your storm, find your center heartlight, bless your loving essence and once the storm moves on, your balance, your strength and your beautiful soul will regain its momentum and begin to shine again.

Sweet Summer

It’s Friday!  The weekend begins ~ just a quick note to send joy your way!  Take some time today to be kind to yourself and to enjoy the wonder of Mother Nature’s gifts.  Eat strawberries, jump in a lake or swim in the ocean, listen to the cicadas in the coolness of the evening, walk barefoot in the grass, on the beach, wherever you are!  Face the sun and let the shadows of worry fall behind you.

Be safe.  Be kind.  Be for just a little while.  Stillness renews our souls and helps us to reconnect soul and body.  Happy Summer to YOU!
