As The Veil Thins

Today, October 31st, we have a second full moon in the same month which is called a Blue Moon. It coincides with All Hallow’s Eve (Halloween) which is the precursor to November 1st which is All Saints Day. Additionally, we have to turn the clocks back. What a busy day indeed!

The veil thins during this time. What does that mean? It is a time when the separation between the living and those who have passed away is thinner and perhaps we can find communication easier between us.

These last few years I have had many loved ones pass away and it has been difficult to go on without them in my life. As with anyone who has grieved, there have been times when the ache has been tremendous and the yearning for one more moment with them has been overwhelming. But at other times, I have felt peace, knowing they are not suffering anymore and are with God.

My loved ones have given me many signs that they are still with me. Often I have often felt their presence even though they have passed away. For that, I am truly grateful. While some may say these events were coincidental, I know in my heart that they were truly signs of love from those dearly departed souls whom I miss.

Have you ever had signs from those who have passed away? Please share!

Animal Round Up For Halloween

Happy Halloween to you!  In honor of the holiday, I thought I’d take a few photos of the critters I’ve seen recently at the house.

Cricket on the back patio during the day. I thought they only came out at night?

But the best part? The deer who were just standing outside the barn after my last lesson. Sorry for the grainy photo, it was dark out!

I have missed seeing the deer in my new house.  At my old one, I would see them passing by at twilight across my neighbor’s front lawn.  But when I recently left a horseback riding lesson, while walking to my car, I thought a big dog was scampering past me.  When my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I saw an entire family of deer a few yards away from me.  How glorious for me!  As I quietly talked with them, they stood there listening intently.  It was such a precious moment!  They even patiently waited while I grabbed my phone and took a few photos.  This was the best photo of the group I got, although I’m sorry it’s so grainy.  It was dark out, but I could see them and their eyes twinkling in the night.

I love deer.  I’ve written about them before in my blog.  I love all animals, even little Mr. Mousey who hopefully lives outside only.  You know, I have two cats in my home whom I adore.  Hopefully one day, I will even get a big dog, but that will have to wait for now.  Maybe I won’t be able to get a dog, but perhaps someone will share theirs with me so that we can play fetch and romp with enthusiasm outside.

Happy Halloween from Tiffy the American Bobtail and her favorite Witch!

There’s something about animals that I adore.  Sometimes, I think they are better than humans for they are more honest and loyal.  The older I’ve gotten, the more attuned I seem to be getting with animals, especially wildlife.  I wonder if it’s the Pisces in me?

I hope you have a lovely day.

Life After Death?

13904_

They that love beyond the world cannot be separated by it.

Death cannot kill what never dies. – William Penn

Well, we made it through our first Christmas without Dad.  In case you didn’t know, my Dad passed away 6 months ago so we’ve been dealing with many firsts in the last few months, my parents’ first anniversary and his first birthday (is there such a thing to celebrate when he’s not here?), the first Halloween, Thanksgiving and now Christmas.  In the near future looms New Year’s Eve and my Mom’s birthday.  According to helpful friends, the year of firsts without Dad are the hardest which I imagine is true having been through a bunch so far…but it is supposed to get easier with time which is a relief.

I awoke this morning pondering life after death and thought I’d ask you ~  my blogging community ~  to help me again navigate these muddy waters.  Many of you have special gifts that you’ve shared with me so I figure if anyone can help, it would be you.  I”m too close to see the forest for the trees so I’d like to rely on you.

Do you believe in life after death?  Do you believe you can come back to be with your loved ones even for a little bit?  Do you believe that spirits can rattle windows or become squawking birds?  How about hovering around the house and moving objects in a mischievous manner?  Can they enter our dreams to show us that they are happy?  Do they possess the ability to play with electricity?  Can they leave us signs?  Can they turn into cardinals or butterflies to show us they are nearby?

In case you weren’t able to guess, the above happened to our family ~ although I am a bit skeptical since not all of the above were experienced by me.  But to my Mom, they are definite signs of Dad.  In fact, she knows that he’s been back to visit her, to let her know that he’s still around watching over her.

I’d love to hear your experiences if you have had any and if you’d share with me.  Because I think that especially around the holidays, the empty chair of a loved one who has  passed is most felt now.  We tried to make it easier for my Mom by changing it up this year and my sister AAngel hostessed Christmas Day so that we wouldn’t have the memory of Dad’s empty chair.  For the most part, I think it worked well ~  she subtly lit a white candle on her table for him which I thought was most caring.

Have you experienced any after death visits?

Do you believe in the ability for loved ones to come back to visit?

Do you have any suggestions on how to get through the rest of the year of firsts?

Any and all suggestions, stories and experiences are appreciated!
