Hemingway’s Every Man

hemingway“Every man’s life ends the same way.

It is only the details of how he lived and how he died

that distinguish one man from another.”

– Ernest Hemingway

I found this quote and am so inspired by it for 2016!  For we all have an expiration date which most of us do not know until it comes, unless we decide to pass.  So, instead of making goals for 2016 or choosing a word for your year ahead ~ perhaps we could all think about the details of how we live this year, how we distinguish our own lives from the masses of droplets in the ocean and how we can better connect on a higher vibration with the rest of our world in a peaceful manner.

Just a little thought for a Monday in a new year…

Shine your heartlights!  I see you!

The Width of An Eyelash

eyelash

Sometimes the difference between what we want

and what we fear is the width of an eyelash.

~Jay McInerney

This was a great quote from the movie, The Second Exotic Marigold Hotel, but when I looked it up, it was quoted by Jay McInerney.  The quote touched me deeply and I wanted to share it with you.  For like many people, I have stood in fear, wanting something and yet frozen as to how to proceed.  I think it’s something we all deal with in our lives.  We make millions of different decisions a day, some small and some enormous and our lives reflect the decisions we make.  I’ve heard people lament that they don’t have what they want and yet I observe that they don’t fight the fear to push through to make their wants a reality. It’s hard to do.  I know.  But this quote gave me hope.  For if it’s a width of an eyelash between what we want and what we fear, then it’s not a far jump to realize our desires.  Don’t you think?

Live By Choice

livebychoice

“Live by choice, not by chance.

Make changes, not excuses.

Be motivated, not manipulated.

Work to excel, not compete.

Choose to listen to your inner voice,

not the jumbled opinions of everyone else.”

– Marc Chernoff

Wowsza, what else is there to say?  This one says it all!

Daily Prompt ~ Help!

image16

Your illness does NOT define you.  Your strength and courage DOES.

Helen posted this on her blog the other day and I just had to share it.  Stop by to visit Helen by clicking here!  For you see, anyone with any illness can benefit from these sage words.  It matters not if you have battled breast cancer or not.  It goes for all illnesses, cancers and I believe, even traumatic life experiences.

Your courage defines you.

Your inner strength defines you.

Your decision to survive defines you.

And then sharing your experiences, whether good or bad, in order to help others who are in the throes of the illness, that vulnerability shows extensive courage.  Don’t you think?  For to exhibit weakness is to exhibit strength.  When I show how weakened I was by my breast cancer surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation and the multitude of restless nights filled with worry, when I share how I battled against the odds and I open up to you in order that you may know that we are connected, that you are not alone.  I don’t find that to show my weakness, but in fact, it shows my strength for I am still here, still human, still humbled by what I’ve endured.  I take nothing for granted now.  I am learning to rely on my inner strength to flourish in my life.  I let go of the expectations of others (ok, I’m still working on this one) and I am allowing the freedom to be myself and not conform to what others expectations are of me.  For they’ve not endured my experiences even though some of them may believe that because they have been nearby during my illness that they understand.  But alas, they truly do not.  But you, who have walked in these shoes yourself, you understand and it is to you that I reach out.

Even though I have battled this alone, I am here for you.  Sometimes it is only through connecting with another person who has endured what we have, that we can truly heal and truly understand what we have endured.  I was/am blessed to have many who have helped me along the way.  I only hope to help you as well.

Be courageous.

Be strong.

Connect with others.

Shine On!

Just as I was going to press PUBLISH, I saw the Daily Prompt.  If I could completely devote myself to connecting with others to help them on their journey through illness, I would do it in a second!  So that’s why I added the daily prompt to my otherwise Pink Post!  If anyone knows how I could get someone to take care of my daily responsibilities in order to do this full time with an income, let me know! 🙂 ♥♥♥

Find A Purpose To Serve

71574215_

“Find a purpose to serve, not a lifestyle to live.” – Criss Jami

Goal-achievement-quote-apr-21-2013

My heartfelt thanks to Paul at Goal Habits who daily brings me a quote to begin my day ~ and it’s always a keeper!  (You know what that means right?  When you’re fishing and you catch one that is just the right size, what do you say?  It’s a Keeper!)  I know this is an older quote, but I thought it was perfect for today!

There’s a lot of mumbo jumbo about finding your purpose, being your best self and fulfilling what you are meant to accomplish by learning the lessons you’ve been given in order to live this life.  Truly, I don’t feel like it’s all mumbo jumbo, but I do feel like I hear a lot of people yammering about it, but not DOING anything about it.  Does that make sense?

I guess that’s why I like this quote because I believe that when you find your purpose to serve, whatever is necessary in your life will come.  Does that make sense to you?

So what is it that is your purpose?  Whom are you to serve?  Do you know?

I’ve met so many inspiring people through blogging from all different corners of the world.  What I adore is that I learn from each of you, something special that inspires me to live a more gracious life ~ to be lifted a bit higher than I was and to yearn to connect even more with others.

I’m floating these days, awaiting the start of the school year which as a former teacher, I always found exciting ~ on par with New Year’s because it’s a new beginning ~ although to be truthful, every Monday feels like a new start, every 1st of the month when I utter rabbit-rabbit is a new start ~ heck every dawn is a new start, don’t you think?

So today I’m asking you, what’s your purpose to serve?  Whom are you serving?  And if you don’t know, please think about it and with tomorrow’s dawn, come back and tell us!  Perhaps we can all connect even more and help each other!  Come on, find that Inner-Hotshot, you know the one who listens to her intuition, her gut and connects!

What’s your purpose to serve?

Power Up ~ Let’s Write Your Success Story!

17171_Let’s Write a Success Story ~ YOURS!

This is your life.  There, I said it ~ whoops, I mean, I wrote it.  Not that you need me to tell you this, but sometimes I think we need to remind each other that we are in charge of our own lives.  It’s our decisions and our choices which have led us to this place called the Present.

The success or failure of our life rests in our capable hands.

How’s that for a truth?

What do you think about that?  Are you happy with your Present?  Do you wish to change it?  Well, you can!  It’s simple.  Starting now, take baby steps to change what you don’t like and grow what you do like!

What?  You don’t know what you want?  You can’t think of what you need?  You don’t know how to get it?  Are you feeling a bit overwhelmed?

Ok, let’s start at the beginning my friends…Step One ~ take out a piece of paper and write down your ultimate fantasy life ~ no holds barred, without limits, what would it look like?  Include all that you would like to enjoy in your life ~ does that include a loving partner?  Children?  Pets?  Home?  Car?  Job?  More money?  Happiness?  More Love?  Peace?  Friends?  Family?  Joy?  More free time?

Just free-write and list what you want to see in your life.  When you’ve exhausted your mind and added all that was swirling around, put down your pen and take a deep breath.  Now reread what you’ve just written.  Do you see a trend?  Is there a theme of what you want in life?

Are there any bits that you can accomplish today?  Do you have any of them already?  Can you ‘see’ yourself having them today or tomorrow or by the end of 2013?

There’s no need to do any more today, unless of course, you remember something else you want to add to your list.  Perhaps you should keep it with you this week as you go about your daily routine.  You never know when you’ll be inspired to add something else to your life list!

Shine On!

After I wrote my post today and just before I hit publish, the Daily Prompt came out ~ You’ve got the power is one of my favorite lines and theme running through my life!  If I could enact a single law, it would simply be the law that

YOU HAVE THE POWER to live your life exactly how you want to live it provided that it brings love, happiness and harmony to yourself and others!

Daily Prompt: You’ve Got the Power

You have the power to enact a single law. What would it be?

The Secret of Success

73167707_

“People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they can do things.

When they believe in themselves they have the first secret of success.”
—Norman Vincent Peale

In stretching out of my comfort zone these last few weeks, I’ve found that when I let go of all of the stuff I carry around in my head, you know, those nagging thoughts of negativity, I’m finding that success is coming my way.  I’m becoming less attached the the outcomes and more involved in the taking of baby steps towards my goals!  Are you having the same experiences?

Have  you been stretching these past few weeks with me?  Are you finding that your life is opening up a bit more for the better?  Let me know what’s going on with you!  If I can help in any way, you know I’ve got my hand held out for you!  When I focus on simply stretching out of my comfort zones everyday in whatever shape that takes, I am finding that I am enjoying life more ~ I am having more success ~ I am making more connections with others ~ and in turn, I am able to help others to find their success as well!

Norman Vincent Peale wrote many inspirational books, one being  The Power of Positive Thinking.  Even though this book it was originally published in 1952,  its fundamental truths continue to hold today.

So, on this Happy Monday, I thought I’d start the week off with a bit of success for us all!  I am grateful to Paul Mark Sutherland for today’s quote ~ please click here  to be directed to his blog called Goal Habits.com which is one of my favorites that I read every morning for inspiration!

GOAL!

9686_HIKE!

You know how in football, before the goal, they say HIKE and the play begins?  Well, that’s where I am ~ I love this card because in answering the Daily Prompt’s questions it fits perfectly.  So here are my answers.  Feel free to comment below and answer these questions as well!  I’d love to hear about you too!

When you started this blog, did you set any goals?

To be honest, I set out to just try to blog in the beginning.  I wanted to share what I’d learned from enduring breast cancer as I was a celebrating being a 10 year survivor!  To me, it was an awakening that I was still here even after all I’d endured.  I wanted to write a book, but I felt like what I was writing was riddled with jumps in storytelling.  It didn’t flow properly.

The idea of a blog, a little daily tidbit, appealed to me.  So I simply set out to write often about whatever was pertinent to me that day in hopes that someone out there in this big world would find some type of comfort and connection to it/me.  I wanted to find and forge a community of people who would connect and enjoy life.

Lift each other up, empathize when needed and inspire each other ~

connecting with our strengths and developing our weaknesses.

Have they changed at all?

Certainly they’ve changed.  But the core is still there.  I believe that we are all connected and I love the safe sense of community which bloggers enjoy.  As I wrote above, the blog has developed as time has gone on.  Now with Inner Hotshot University, I’m playing with connecting our strengths and developing our weaknesses by simply taking the commitment to do one thing every week to stretch out of our comfort zones.  I’m not a professional.  I just want to inspire you to continue to learn, to create the life you love living, to appreciate your life and to be grateful.

I started out as Misifusa’s Blog until the name The Presents of Presence came to me and then I changed it.  Eventually I may be expanding…♥♥♥

I am inspired by you all ~ I learn from you ~ and I am so very grateful for your presence in my life!

Share your story!

Daily Prompt: Goals

When you started your blog, did you set any goals? Have you achieved them? Have they changed at all?
