Genius!

Gadzooks!  Eureka!  That’s genius!

Have you ever been given advice or learned something new that was completely mind-blowing to you?  Have you ever found an invention that you thought was genius?  Have you ever realized something that you found to help you and in turn felt like shouting Woo Hoo!?!

My life opened up in sparkling rare form when I began my journey spiritually.  I realized the genius in simplicity, kindness and love.  I had always known that I thought differently than others around me.  I saw things that others missed.  I had a knowing that I couldn’t explain why or how I knew what I knew.

For example, back in the olden days before caller ID or even message machines, I often had a feeling just before the phone would ring and I would often know who it was.  My family laughed when I told them, disbelieving my gift.  So after awhile, I just stayed quiet.  I didn’t try to expand the gift of knowing.  Instead I put my intuition on a shelf and let it get dusty from non-use.

I also experienced deja vu from a young age and would recognize strangers’ faces or maybe even their souls, but not be able to place how I knew them.  This caused unrest in me when I felt darkness in them.  But how do you explain that to others without sounding crazy or fearful?

It’s just in the last few years that I have begun to re-emerge by allowing my gifts to blossom again.  Feeling safe to do so has done wonders for the expansion of my spiritual toolbox.  Finding like-minded people has helped too.  I am pretty much an open book when given the opportunity to shine so I have begun to show myself a bit more slowly.

Empathy comes easily to me, probably I have too much empathy if the truth be known, by giving more than the chances needed to others who may not have deserved them.  Seeing how they felt when duality was evident has caused me much pain.  I have always wanted to see the good, the essence of good in people.  Forgiveness for myself and others has been healing to me.  I am not a perfect being though.  In a few situations, I’m still rough around the edges on certain points at this juncture in my life.  But, time is healing my wounded soul.

I enjoy bonding with others who are courageous enough to be vulnerable and to allow their heartlight to shine.  Closed-minded people who hold superficiality above all do not interest me.  It is with love and light that I surround myself now.

And that to me, is genius!

Love is in the air…

While I was in the grocery store, I happened down the card aisle as I love cards and saw the sea of pinks and reds!  Ahhh…Valentine’s Day is coming ~ which of course, brought a huge smile to my face because I love sending out love and this is the holiday for just that!

Happy Birthday Sissy!

Sister Every year that passes, I learn so much from you.

You are a great inspiration in my life, and I wish you the happiest of Birthdays.

Today is my only sister’s birthday…Happy Birthday AAngel!

I want to dedicate today’s post to AAngel as without her birth, I would have been a very lonely only child.  My sissy has brought me plenty of love, laughter and camaraderie as only sisters can share.  We’ve had our moments where we weren’t as close and we’ve had a few when we didn’t agree.  But for the most part, we’ve been close and we know that we can count on the other when the chips are down.  And for that, I am truly grateful.

I remember when my sister was born as I am three years older than she is.  My parents bought me a baby doll to love so that I would have a baby like my Mom.  However, as soon as AAngel arrived at the house, I put that fake baby doll aside and held the live baby my Mom brought home and called her my own…and it’s been that way ever since.  Much to my sister’s chagrin, I’ve been her second Mom her whole life.  I can’t help it…she came into my life and I just wanted to be her Mom…I wanted to protect her, to love her and to take care of her.  And for much of her life, that’s the way it was…but then something special happened…the tables turned.  She became the caretaker of me.  She began being my Mom and mothering me when I needed it.  There have been so many times she has taken care of me in a Mom-like way ~ times when she’s called and I’ve burst into tears for one reason or another and she’s listened with love as only a sister can.  I hope she feels the same as I do ~ that I am so grateful for her…her love, honesty, sisterhood ~ that I’m so proud of her…she’s a great Mom to 3 boys, is successful in whatever she puts her mind to whether it be PTA President or working part-time as a successful sales rep, gives of her time and heart to those who need a little extra care and is always ready to help whenever I need her.  I enjoy her company ~ she’s great fun and always brings light wherever she goes.  She is beautiful both inside and out ~ truly, she is beautiful.  AAngel is the only person who understands our family dynamic as she’s been there with me throughout our lifetimes and it’s her strength, determination and wisdom on which I rely ~ which I hope she can say the same about me.

I have the privilege today to be able to enjoy a birthday lunch with her and our Mom which I think is special.  We’re lucky that we live within an hour’s drive of each other so that we can see each other during the holidays and whenever we want!

So, this post is for you AAngel…

Manifesting Butterflies

I saw the above card as a gift in the SendOutCards gift catalog and I sent it to KAngel with a heartfelt card because she had just gotten a special butterfly tattoo & I wanted to honor it.  The funny thing was that I wanted the gift for myself as well ~ it’s a simple card, like a credit card that you can put in your wallet to remind you or you could put it on your desk…I’ve been carrying mine now for a few days as a symbol of strength because my friend BAngel sent it to me!  She didn’t even know that I wanted it!  Imagine my thrill when I got an unexpected greeting card in the mail with the same present that I had sent and wanted for myself!  Woo Hoo!  It made my day! **

In the meantime though, I’ve had a lot of butterfly encounters lately and it made me think about animal totems.  So I looked it up at butterfly-animal-symbolism.html

This unwavering acceptance of her metamorphosis is also symbolic of faith. Here the butterfly beckons us to keep our faith as we undergo transitions in our lives. Interestingly, in many cultures the butterfly is associated with the soul – further linking our animal symbolism of faith with the butterfly…Its connection with the soul is rather fitting. We are all on a long journey of the soul. On this journey we encounter endless turns, shifts, and conditions that cause us to morph into ever-finer beings. At our soul-journey’s end we are inevitably changed – not at all the same as when we started on the path.

To take this analogy a step further, we can look again to the grace and eloquence of the butterfly and realize that our journey is our only guarantee.

Our responsibility to make our way in faith,

accept the change that comes,

and emerge from our transitions as brilliantly as the butterfly.”

After reading all of this, I realized that it was quite fitting that the butterfly is my animal totem now…

I was watching Super Soul Sunday when the above came on (just click on that link that starts w/g7) and I just wanted to share this in case you hadn’t seen it yet…I posted awhile back another video which I found interesting…and I like this one too, hence the share!

Are you comfortable giving and receiving compliments?  Giving is probably the easier of the 2 for many of us.  Telling your friends and family something good that you see in them is natural ~ it’s easy to compliment the ones you love as you love so much about them!  However, sometimes we forget to SAY what’s in our hearts and VOICE how we feel and our compliments.  Perhaps today you can make a special effort to TELL others how special they are to you!

Compliments by nature, make other smile, let them know you see something special and unique in them and brings an all around goodness to the soul.  Giving sincere compliments is like smiling…it’s easy to do and means so much!  It shows that you SEE the other person in a beautiful light and that their efforts are recognized by you.  What a wonderful gift to give!  And what a lovely gift to receive!

Speak them, write them, text them!  Just do it!
