The Present Moment

eckhart

The past has no power over the present moment.

~ Eckhart Tolle

Sometimes you need to simply exist now.  No looking left nor right, forward nor backward, no past, no future, no maybe if I took that path or this one.  Just being with what is right now.  Letting go of the should, coulda, woulda past decisions and experiences allows you to open the field of presence, to be in the moment and to grasp the reality of this situation at hand.  Beating yourself up over any of it is futile.  It’s done.  Deal with the present situation and work from there.  That’s what YOU can do and move forward.

Please enjoy this special day…it is a gift.  Nobody has a crystal ball of how long any of us have here on Earth.  We have present moment, take The Presents of Presence and be grateful ~ you are here and you are loved!

Attention on the Now

tolle

“Focus your attention on the Now and tell

me what problem you have at this moment.”

~ Eckhart Tolle

There are times when we feel overwhelmed by all that is going on within us and around us.  Relationships, finances, health issues and our own minds can clog with problems and we feel like we have problems with everything.  Maybe we do, but in this very moment, the quote above from Tolle reminds us to breathe and to concentrate on ‘what problem you have at this moment.’  In this very instant, be grateful for all that we have.

So let’s be grateful for what we share.  Be grateful for the world such as it is ~ the beauty of Mother Nature, the sweet melody of the animals, the fact that in this very moment, we are here to enjoy our lives.  Be present.  Be open.  Be grateful for all the little, sometimes subtle blessings in your life.

Perhaps your relationships are stormy, be present, carve out a moment for yourself to enjoy the peace within you.  Perhaps your health is an issue, be grateful for your breath, focus on breathing, feel your body and cells ignite with positivity.  Your body is a well-organized machine that your mind runs.  Clear your mind, think good thoughts and your body responds.  Perhaps your finances are giving you trouble.  Then bless your bills, be grateful for shelter, and the comforts of home that you have now in this moment.  You have infinite power to change.

Now, in this moment, you are here, you are blessed.  You are perfect, whole and complete.  In this very instance you have all you need in order to succeed.  You have yourself.  You can overcome any obstacles in your path.  You have no problems that you cannot surmount.  Once you make up your mind that you have no problems in this very moment, it becomes clear that we can eliminate the sadness, the hurt, the anger and the problems and move on to peace.

Use this moment to find the peace within you.  Surround yourself with a loving embrace.

Smile.  All is well, moment to moment.

It Is What It Is

“What could be more futile, more insane, than to create inner resistance to something that already is?” ~ Eckhart Tolle

The above came in my email this morning and I felt that it needed to be shared.  Too many times, we resist change whether it be something small like dinner plans or something big like illness, bankruptcy, death or the end of a relationship.  We turn our heads without facing the truth of the matter.  We turn away from what’s right in front of us, pleading that it goes away and leaves us alone.  We beg for things to stay the same or to change the way we wish, but not necessarily where it’s headed.  Some may try to make deals with God or others in order to not have to change.  They fight it, refusing to see, burying heads in the proverbial sand and not accepting what is.

I dislike the quote, “it is what it is” for it leaves me feeling bitter.  I don’t know, why but it does.  It’s like there’s nothing left.  There’s a lack.  There are no choices, it just is and that’s what gets me every time.  Because I see that there are choices ~ choices in how we view and deal with changes and events that we didn’t choose.

Lately I’ve been through some tough changes.  At first I thought I’d try to fight the changes with the bravery of a hellcat.  Then I released the resistance to the changes.   It doesn’t serve me to be angry, resentful nor unforgiving.  However, it serves me to treat others with kindness, love and patience.  I know not where this change will lead me, but I am choosing how I deal with it in my life.

We all have choices.

Our life is our responsibility.

We can choose how we change.

I’m not saying that I haven’t been angry for the changes that have been thrust into my life.  I am not a Pollyanna either.  But after great pondering and soul searching, I choose different words to see how the changes will affect me.  I consistently rebuff the words lack and losing and choose opening up and freedom.  I have gone deep within my mind, soul and heart to change how I am dealing with this change and I hope that I can be a role model in how I’m dealing with all that’s occurring.

For we need to find peace, happiness and love in our hearts in order to stay healthy.  Forgive but perhaps not forget as we move along this path of life.  The quote, “change is inevitable” is another one which I dislike, only because I feel that heaviness inside when someone uses that phrase.  Instead, I feel that change is the opportunity to grow, to think outside the plans we had for our lives and to move forward in a way that was unseen before now.  It is a freedom of sorts I think.  It takes away limits that we had previously held onto and allows choices that we had forgotten about to emerge.

It’s not easy sailing into unknown waters in life.  Of that, I’m certain.  There are storms and upheavals but there is also smooth sailing on clear days.  Sometimes the wind takes us to places that we never knew existed and if we hadn’t endured the painful changes, we might never be where we end up.  So my advice to you is to ‘go with the flow’ and allow the Universe to guide your loving, forgiving heart.  Allow others to be themselves and accept changes so that you can change too.

Be kind to yourselves every day.

Shine On!

The Present Moment

“Whatever the present moment contains,

accept it as if you had chosen it.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

This is a lesson for me and perhaps it resonates for you as well.  Either way, we are on this journey of living in the present moment and finding peace within it without looking forwards or backwards.  That’s not to say that we don’t plan or learn from mistakes in the past.  It is that we take this precious gift of this moment in time and we do not squander it with thoughts that do not benefit our souls.  Repeating mistakes constantly in our minds, reliving sadness over and over or staying in that rut in your mind that plows deeper into depression does not serve you.

Gratitude for what is here, in the now, serves you.

Enjoy the Presents of Presence.

Go Ahead, Be Emotional

tolle1“If you really want to know your mind, the body will always give you a truthful reflection,

so look at the emotion, or rather feel it in your body.

If there is an apparent conflict between them, the thought will be the lie,

the emotion will be the truth.”

— Eckhart Tolle
