Broken And Fixed

brokenandfixed

I wish I could remember where I found this posted on Facebook, but the story touched me in such a way that I had to share it with you.  Read on…

I was in Dollar Tree last night and there was a lady and two kids behind me in the LONG line. One was a big kid, one was a toddler. The bigger one had a pack of glow sticks and the baby was screaming for them so the Mom opened the pack and gave him one, which stopped his tears. He walked around with it smiling, but then the bigger boy took it and the baby started screaming again. Just as the Mom was about to fuss at the older child, he bent the glow sticks and handed it back to the baby. As we walked outside at the same time, the baby noticed that the stick was now glowing and his brother said “I had to break it so you could get the full effect from it.” I almost ran because l could hear God saying to me, “I had to break you too show you why I created you. You had to go through it so you could fulfill your purpose.” That little baby was happy just swinging that “unbroken” glow sticks around in the air because he didn’t understand what it was created to do which was “glow.” There are some people who will be content just “being” but some of us that God has chosen, we have to be “broken.” We have to get sick. We have to lose a job. We have to find our own path. We go through divorce. We have to bury our spouse, parents, best friend, or our child because, in those moments of desperation, God is breaking us but when the breaking is done, then we will be able to see the reason for which we were created. Trust me, I do not look like what I have been through.
You are loved, you are valuable, and you have a purpose.

Dear friends, when you’re asking that eternal question of Why?, perhaps you can find some relief in the story above and feel more at peace.  We see your heartlights!

Party On!

Day 2 of 2018 and here’s what’s come to me and written itself.

Need I remind you (and me for that matter) that we only have today in which to live?  Sometimes I find that time flies by and I realize that I have let days go by without living.  What does that mean exactly?  Well, it probably means different things to each of us, but for me, it means that my days sometimes are filled with mundane routine and there’s not even a small spark of newness to them.

I wonder if when the watch the reel of our lives when we get to the other side, if we will feel like that time was wasted or if we will realize that there was something important about days that feel spark-less?

Will we run through the Rolodex of days gone by that seemingly had no spark and berate ourselves?  Or will be understand that those days had meaning because they were when we were experiencing, accepting and processing life in a quieter way?

I have friends who live life to the fullest all the time.  They are busy, busy, busy – running here and there with their party lights on full tilt.  It amazes me how they can be on so much of the time.  Perhaps it is my chronic fatigue that plagues me that I don’t have that type of energy all the time.  Perhaps it is because I can become introspective and often need to go within to process life experiences so that I can come out with enthusiasm for life again after I’ve been hurt.  How do you live your life?

I love to hear how people deal with life experiences differently.  I love how relationships change.  I am an avid people-watcher and I enjoy learning about how people think and what leads them to their actions.  Connecting with others makes me happy and gives me a feeling of divine purpose.  Most of us by this age have experienced many different life experiences, good and bad.  To connect with someone who understands what you are going through because they have had a similar experience is like finding a golden nugget, especially when you are both open to share freely.

So what’s my point?  Obviously, I don’t know.  This is just another post which has written itself and I allowed the words to flow from my fingers to the keyboard.  If any of this resonates with you, please let me know.

Shine On!

Peace Joy Love

Dearest Friends,

I am sending you peace, joy and love today (and always).

May your holiday season be filled with the meaning of Christmas.

Remember you are the hub of your own wheel of life.  Your deeds, your thoughts and your kindnesses are the spokes which support you and allow you to move forward in life.  Your heartlight shines so that on your life’s journey, you can see through any storms which may come your way.  At times, we meet other wheels, banding together for a time to roll along ~ connecting, supporting and enjoying this journey called life.  We are never far from others, only as far as we are from our true selves.

Your Divine Purpose here is to allow peace, joy and love to fill your being and to be a gentle reminder to others.  Surround your soul with God ‘s love and listen to the angelic reminders in your mind.  You are special.  You are loved.  Remember that always.

Merry Christmas!  Happy Holidays!  May you have a blessed holiday season!

We Have the Power!

“We are responsible for what we are,

and whatever we wish ourselves to be,

we have the power

to make ourselves.”

– Swami Vivekananda

I found this quote enlightening and felt the need to share it with you.  For it seems to me that at times, we forget that we hold the power of our dreams, our hopes and our Divine Purpose and as Swami Vivekananda says, ‘we have the power to make ourselves,’ which I find reassuring.

So if you are troubled, take heart.  You hold the power to make yourself.  It is your choice to make yourself however you wish.  So wish well ~ wish with a kind, open, loving heart and hold your power to make yourself the YOU you wish to be.

You count.  You are special.  You are empowered.

Now, shine like the sun!

Shine On!

Shining Soul

Pick a star up in the sky and pretend that star is me.

Shining bright with love for you, so all the world can see…

Yesterday I told you a bit about my life and how it feels to be a woman without breasts because they were taken due to breast cancer.  This is my 3rd foray into trying to have breasts again and I am blessed to have found such an amazing doctor who has changed my life with her dedication to women who have endured more than their share of heartache, pain and emotional/physical anguish.

I will honestly tell you that the road to the ‘new normal’ after having breast cancer and multiple surgeries (10th breast cancer related surgery scheduled for December, but #14 in my life) with one more for 2013, is not an easy road to endure.  It’s a road full of pot holes, disappointments, pain and yet triumph as well.  It’s a road that is best when shared with others ~ easier to share with those of us who have traveled it or are traveling it with you.  It’s not for the faint of heart although I am still known to faint at the sight of a needle even after all of the needles I’ve endured over the years.

It’s no different than life for everyone else for we are all on this journey together.  None of us escape heartache, pain and sorrow.  Perhaps you’ve not had breast cancer, but you’ve been shouldering an illness, abuse, depression, a different type of cancer or some other difficulty.  It may not be the same, but the choice is ~ you can endure it and keep taking baby steps forward or you can allow it to rule your life and not move forward.

It’s your choice my friends.  What I’ve learned though is that it’s a choice that I make everyday.

I can choose to allow my situation bring me down and epitomize the victim role/attitude by feeling sorry for myself, by crawling inside and not taking the helping hands which are offered to me.  Or I can choose to rise from it and shine like a star!  I can use my experiences (there are many beyond breast cancer but that’s for another day) to help others, to be kind, to be understanding, to have patience…to help, to support and to guide by what I know and have gleamed from my own life.

Learning to love your own body is a lesson we all need to learn, breast cancer or not!

Learning to love yourself for me is a life-long process.

As I thought about my post yesterday, I realized that I have old tapes playing in my head of not being enough and perhaps that’s why I’ve been having such a terrible time lately ~ and perhaps that’s why Dr. Phil and Oprah’s magazine struck such a chord in me yesterday.  My inner voice, you know, that inner strength broke free yesterday from the bonds that I’d imposed on it.  Today I feel freer, I feel more like the girl I love to be ~ the one that may give you TMI (Too Much Information), but will do so willingly if it helps even one other person because that’s my goal here on my blog.

If I can touch just one of you, help one other person to feel that they are not alone, that yes, I have experienced the same as you and I am still here…inspire you to keep taking baby steps…then I feel like I am living according to my divine purpose.  Because that’s why we are all here ~ to help each other on this journey of life.  Helping hands can be found everywhere.  We all have a story to tell…it’s up to you how you write your story!

Breasts or not, I am still a woman who can say she is blessed to have seen the darkness of life and has chosen to search for the light and found it!

You can’t appreciate the stars if you’ve never endured the darkness!

Shine on my friends!  Shine on!
