May Your Easter Be Filled With JOY!

Easter is a natural time of rebirth.  As Spring begins its season of growth, so do we!  Gratitude for blessings and delighting in the wondrous emergence of flowers and trees budding in the Spring flows joy to our hearts!  How lovely for the change of seasons!

May you enjoy a few moments of quiet today to fill your heart with love and gratitude.  Pray, meditate and just enjoy this moment in time.  Fill your day with love, reach out to family and friends in kindness and be gently reminded of the great gift that is today.

May joy be yours dear friends!

Staying in the Present Moment

stayinginthepresentmoment

Whew, I don’t know about you, but sometimes it’s mighty hard to stay in the present moment.  With all of life’s busyness, I think sometimes we get caught up in the hubbub of what needs to be done today and we let being present fall by the wayside.  Does this happen to you?

I know it happens to me.

Bills, appointments, responsibilities, paperwork and all the roles I play during day to day living sometimes have me running without a break to simply stop and smell the roses.  To be in the stillness of the moment, whether alone or with someone else.  To just feel the gift of being present.

Often, we live in a whirlwind where we scurry from moment to moment without hesitation when our lives are full and then we fall into our beds at night, exhausted from life in general.  It’s hard to find a few minutes of peace to go within the stillness of our hearts.  Meditation helps if we can find the time to still our minds for a respite, but more often than not, unless we are disciplined, other responsibilities take precedence.  But meditation doesn’t have to be a formal time set exercise.  It can simply be taking five minutes to really enjoy that cup of tea or coffee and relaxing our minds.  It can be taking a quiet walk outside and listening to the birds or feeling the earth under our feet.  It can be closing our eyes and enjoying the peaceful silence.  We can think positive thoughts, speak affirmations that work for us, pray or just be grateful for this moment in time.  I find that taking 10 minutes to simply free write helps me to clear the clutter from my brain which builds up after time.  Even writing my blog allows me to be still and get into that place of peace.

What helps you to find stillness in the present moment?

Today, try to carve out a few minutes of peace for yourself.  Breathe deeply, stay in the moment, be grateful for all that is in your life and be joyful for the blessings that you enjoy.  Give yourself the gift of presence, even for a few precious moments today.  You deserve the peace and tranquility that comes with it!

Shine On!

Mother Teresa on Love

In honor of the canonization of Mother Teresa today, please watch the video below, in her own words, speaking of love.

Mother Teresa speaking of love

“Where does this love begin? In our own family, in our own home.  How does it begin?  By praying together.  Family that prays together, stays together and if you stay together, you will love one another as God loves each one of you

Today in the world there is so much suffering.  Because of that one of prayer of unity in the family so today when we are together, let us make one strong resolution that we will bring prayer into our family, that we will teach our children to pray and pray with them and you will see the joy and the love and the peace that will come into your hearts.  Because the fruit of prayer is the deepening of faith and the fruit of faith is love and the fruit of love is service and the fruit of service is peace.  Works of love are works of peace that is why let us bring the tender love of God in our families.”

~Mother Teresa, speech on Love

Love one another.

Pray.

Christmas Spirits

Do you hear what I hear?  The quiet hum of the holiday season, over but not forgotten, hanging on through New Year’s and into the Epiphany.  Do you hear the soft twinkling of bells?  Did you feel loved ones who have passed coming to visit during the holidays?  Have you any stories to tell?  Little coincidences that make you stop and wonder if the veil between the living and the deceased was thin and you did indeed receive a sign or a visit?

There is a hush during the chaotic holiday season that when we stop and listen in the stillness of our hearts, we are gifted with the comfort of the loving presence of those who have passed before us.  Sometimes we are too absorbed in the hustle and bustle of the festivities to take notice, but the peace and unity of love are always here for us.  We simply need to be still and receive their presence.

This past week I have seen feathers in unusual places which is supposed to be a sign from our angels.  I have smelled the precise aroma of jasmine mixed with roses when I could not find its source and had no earthy reason to smell the perfumed air that surrounded me.  I have felt a loving presence holding my heart with tenderness when I cried.

You may think these are not signs, but I choose to believe that they are little tidbits of treasured connecting moments of love from above.  I would love to hear if you have felt or experienced anything special during this holiday season.  Please share with us if you have.

May love surround you and yours!

Shine On!

Counting Blessings

Christmas Blessings to You and Yours!

I’m up early.  All is quiet, not a creature is stirring except the 2 cats who are ever curious as to the ribbons and bows under the tree.  I love to spend the early morning sunrise writing.  There’s something magical about the hush of a peaceful house, white Christmas lights twinkling in the dark, a fresh cup of coffee and soft lit candles reminding us to count our blessings.

The magic of Christmas has always held me.  For me, there’s nothing like a great Christmas Eve mass with my sons singing all the old hymns which bring back memories.  Being with my children is special to me and it’s a gift that I never take for granted.

So this morning, I’m counting my blessings, shedding a few tears, sending up a few prayers, tip-toeing down memory lane and just feeling grateful to be alive, in this very moment for I still believe…

I believe in love.  I believe in gratitude.  I believe in faith.  I believe in kindness.  I believe in connecting with others.  I believe in truth.  I believe laughter and a good cry cleanse the soul.  I believe in forgiveness.  I believe in God.  I believe in my soul family.  I believe in you and I believe in me.

Behind the Closed Door

behindthecloseddoor

Most of us have, at one time or another, come across the following two quotes:

“When one door closes, another door opens, but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.”– Alexander Graham Bell

“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one, which has been opened for us.” – Helen Keller

but it’s how we choose to deal with the closed door that makes all the difference.

We’ve all had ups and downs in our lives.  We don’t leave this lifetime without some tears, some smiles, laughter, love and disappointments.  It happens.  Life goes on.  Changes come gradually and sometimes they come in the blink of an eye.  Best laid plans sometimes go awry.  But we always have a choice to sit in front of a closed door, pining for something/someone or we can look around to discover that there’s more to life than the past that waits behind the door.

It takes courage.  We have a choice, but sometimes we forget that we indeed have that choice.  Sometimes it’s we who close the door and sometimes the door is closed on us.  Either way, we can sit outside the door expectantly, we can turn the knob to see if it’s locked or we can turn around and see what else there is in life.

At one time or another in this lifetime, I have experienced each scenario above and allowed the door to dictate my reaction.  Nowadays, I am seeing the door in a different light.  My past is behind the closed door and what goes on behind closed doors, stays behind closed doors.

The choice to wait expectantly in front of a closed door is ours alone to choose.  The choice to look around for another door or window of opportunity to see that there is more to life than that one door takes courage, but we already have that courage within us.  We just need to tap into it.

So take my hand dear friends.  If you are seeing a closed door in your life, let’s stop staring at the closed door.  Let’s spin around and view the goodness which surrounds us.  Let’s walk together to see what else life has in store for the possibilities are endless once we take that first baby step.

Keep shining your heartlights.  You are perfect, whole and complete just as you are.  I can see you twinkling from here and I send you a warm, heartfelt embrace.

Shine On!
