To Glow Is To Know

glow

to Glow…is to Know…

When we shine our heartlights, we glow….and when we glow, we know.  But what is it exactly that we know by glowing?

We show strength in shining our own special light into the world.  As we shine, we recognize others shining too.  In meeting other heartlights, many times we bond for we both know something that some have yet to learn.  We know that love, patience, kindness and presence increases our glow and allows others to see our heartlight shining as well.

We love, we forgive and we simply are who we are when we take the time to know ourselves and to shine our heartlights in the world around us.  In the movie Avatar, the phrase, “I see you,” is an acknowledgement of opening the mind and heart to the present moment and to spiritually be in that moment with the other person.  It is the ultimate compliment to understand another person, to truly love them for all of themselves and not the just bits and pieces we prefer.

Imagine for a moment our world full of presents of presence and heartlights twinkling like stars in the night sky.  Imagine the peaceful planet we’d inhabit if we were all to shine freely and not hide our heartlights or dim another’s.  I daresay it would be this side of Heaven.

Namaste is another way to acknowledge the divine spark we each hold.  It is amazing when someone says ‘Namaste’ and we know we have been greeted soul to soul.

So this week, perhaps as you go about your days, you could take a moment to connect with the other heartlights that you meet along the way.  Even if it is a fleeting moment, you could smile with a twinkle in your eye and know that your heartlights have connected.  Try it and let us know how it goes for you!  I am going to do it as well!

Shine On!

The Invitation

by Oriah

It doesn’t interest me
what you do for a living.
I want to know
what you ache for
and if you dare to dream
of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me
how old you are.
I want to know
if you will risk
looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me
what planets are
squaring your moon…
I want to know
if you have touched
the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened
by life’s betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed
from fear of further pain.

I want to know
if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it
or fix it.

I want to know
if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you
to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us
to be careful
to be realistic
to remember the limitations
of being human.

It doesn’t interest me
if the story you are telling me
is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear
the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
every day.
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.

I want to know
if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
“Yes.”

It doesn’t interest me
to know where you live
or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.

It doesn’t interest me
who you know
or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
in the centre of the fire
with me
and not shrink back.

It doesn’t interest me
where or what or with whom
you have studied.
I want to know
what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.

I want to know
if you can be alone
with yourself
and if you truly like
the company you keep
in the empty moments.

Are You A Wild Pixie?

atticus

I feel in every girl there lives a spirit,

a wild pixie, that if let go,

would run and dance in grassy fields

until the end of the world.

And when that girl grows up,

that pixie hides,

but it’s always there,

peaking out behind old eyes and reading glasses,

laughing, waiting,

to one day dance again. ~ atticus

A friend sent me this photo and I just knew I had to share it with you.  For how many of us remember the wild pixie inside and let her out to play often?  Or do we hide her away?  What stops us from sharing her again with the world?  It does us no good to keep her hidden and to not allow her the freedom to be a part of ourselves.

So today, let that little pixie out!

Let her laugh, smile and hug!

Allow her to…

Live By Choice

livebychoice

“Live by choice, not by chance.

Make changes, not excuses.

Be motivated, not manipulated.

Work to excel, not compete.

Choose to listen to your inner voice,

not the jumbled opinions of everyone else.”

– Marc Chernoff

Wowsza, what else is there to say?  This one says it all!

Change the World

 robinwilliams

No matter what people tell you,

words and ideas can change the world.

~ Robin Williams

What’s the memory you leave behind after you’re gone?  How will people remember you?  These are the questions in my head this morning as we say goodbye to Robin Williams who passed away yesterday.  When I think of him, I think of the laughter he evoked in such a variety of ways and I admire the freedom he displayed in expressing so many different characters seeming as easily as he took a breath.  I am reminded of the stories that circulate about how he offered to pay for treatment for Christopher Reeve after the horseback riding accident which left him paralyzed and how he quietly and yet consistently donated his own funds to all different charities over the years.

I have written about how Laughter is the Best Medicine and even about Robin Williams portrayal of Patch Adams here as to me, the gift of a smile and laughter is so important ~ and quite contagious!  Don’t you agree?

To honor his memory, let’s willingly smile at everyone today for you never know who really needs a smile.  When a friend answers, “I’m fine,” to your inquiry and you have an inkling that they may not be ‘fine’ please don’t hesitate to reach out in kindness.  Sometimes those who are always giving out smiles, need a smile from you as well.

Rest in Peace Robin Williams.

Go Ahead…Make Waves

10552436_10203645006477663_8216603095335004130_nDon’t worry if you’re making waves simply by being yourself.

The moon does it all the time.  ~ Scott Stabile

Rabbit Rabbit to you!  If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then please click here!

A friend shared this with me and I knew I had to share it with you.  Sometimes we tremble when we want to let it all hang out and be ourselves.  But the moon which does it all the time is admired!  This was just a great way to change the way you are thinking, don’t you think?  Don’t believe it is your destiny to just cower and think small.  No, my friends, it is your Divine Right to be yourself, to shine on and to be as big as the moon which we all look up to every night as it shines brightly in the night sky amongst the sparkling stars!

The Less You Worry

72544037_The less you worry about what people think, the less complicated life becomes.

I saw this quote this morning and had to write about it because it was my mantra this week in stretching out of my comfort zone!  I just couldn’t resist because it’s a great one!  I don’t know about you, but many people worry about what others think.  Are you one of those people?

Well, in stretching our comfort zones here at Inner Hotshot University (IHU), this is sometimes a big issue for people! I don’t know about you, but there’s that inner voice in my head from childhood which says, “Don’t do/say/act like that because what will people think?”

We are taught that we mustn’t talk with our mouths full because, “people will think you don’t have any manners!”

Don’t cause a commotion because, “what will the neighbors think?”

Etc Etc Etc…I’m sure you can make a huge list!

I think in letting go of those limits in our lives, we allow ourselves more power, more room to grow, more space in which to live, to breathe and to flow!  Being taught manners, I still abide by the rules ~ but in speaking out, stretching out of my comfort zone, I’m finding inner peace!  How about you?

It’s a daily practice for me to not seek acceptance and approval from others in my life.  It’s a habit that I’m finding that I want to let go of ~ because I want my inner Hotshot, the little spitfire inside who danced without music, who loved and enjoyed life, wants out of the confines of the self-imposed prison which I set up for her.

Sure, I still enjoy being a Mom, Wife, Daughter etc…I just want to allow ME to shine through as well!  I’ve been talking with a few friends lately and it seems that there are times where we all go through this stage in our lives.  Some have taken different routes to find their Inner Hotshot ~ but for me, it’s that small stretching everyday out of my comfort zone by gently pushing myself to do a bit more, to allow myself to dance a bit (figuratively) and to revel in the freedom of not worrying about what others think, that allows me to shine again.

Frankly, I’ve missed that part of me that I’d hidden away.  And it’s time to call her back into action and integrate her into my life again!

I hope I’m making sense to you ~ but to quote my favorite movie Gone With The Wind, even if I don’t make a lot of sense to you, “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn!”  Ha ha…only kidding! 🙂

So did you stretch out of your comfort zone this week?

Tell me all about it!

Shine On!

Happy Friday!
