Make Someone Happy!

Everywhere you go you always seem to spread sunshine.

Ok, think fast…to whom does this card belong?  Whose name popped into your head first when you read this quote and saw this card?  That’s who needs to hear from you today.  Did you think of someone?  Know their address?  Someone deserves to hear how you feel about them!  Sending positivity, increases sunshine and breeds positivity which makes more sunshine which makes the world a happier place.

Life is about connections ~ we pass along many amazing awards so easily to each other in order to show how we appreciate our connections, our relationships and our positivity.  We are there for each other, we read each other’s posts, we get to know other bloggers as time goes on.  I’ve already made some amazing connections here in cyberspace for which I’m grateful.  But what if when you opened your mailbox, amidst the junk mail and bills was an envelope with your name on it?  Imagine the excitement you would feel ~ similar to getting a comment on a beloved post, don’t you think?

There are people in your life to whom you’re connected and know their physical address ~ I would love to help you give them that priceless feeling of happiness! Making someone else’s day shine with your thoughtfulness gives them the feeling of being appreciated and gives you the feeling of gratitude.  By far, a win-win situation for sure!

See the video below ~ in a little over one month we have sent over 1MM cards of gratitude worldwide!  Imagine the ripple effect if everyone who blogged sent a card every day for 30 days?  I’ve done our gratitude challenge and I’ve seen other bloggers participate their own way in a gratitude challenge!  I love when we all connect!

Think Snow 2

I couldn’t resist this one ~ The Year Without A Santa Claus is one of my favorites during the holiday season!  Well, truthfully, I love to watch this anytime!

“Snow in the South?…NEVER!” is one of my favorite lines…and since my other post today was about SNOW in the SUMMER…I thought I’d share something fun!  FYI:  that scene happens around minute 6!  Fast forward if you wish and ENJOY!

Happy Tuesday…Anything is Possible!

Anything is Possible…Think Snow!

So, it’s back to work, back to school and back to reality with summer a happy memory behind us and fall on it’s way.  But before we let the warm weather disappear, I have a true story for you!  Read on my friends…

Last summer we were out on our boat with my sister and her family.  The subject of positive thinking came up and my hubby stated that Anything is Possible.  My sister enjoys egging him on, so she began a discussion with him that went something like this:

“Anything is possible,” said my hubby.

“No it’s not.” countered my sister.

“Name one thing that’s not possible.”

“Snow.”

“It’s possible.”

“Right now?  In the middle of the summer heat with not a cloud in the sky?”

“Yes, why not?”

With a triumphant smile on her face, she laughed at him, until she turned around and saw…

Think Snow

This boat had just come into our view at just that exact moment!  Can you imagine all of our surprise?  We’ve never seen the boat before nor ever again.  She quickly snapped a picture of it so that we could always remember the story of “Think Snow” and it’s been a family favorite ever since…

So, the next time you aren’t sure if positive thinking works,

“Think Snow” even when it’s summertime!

Anything Is Possible!

High Hopes!

HighHopesSong!

I awoke this morning with this song in my head…there’s something happy, optimistic and just plain smiley about it.  I just had to share!  You know how much I love HOPE as it’s how I live my life ~ full of HOPE!  I’m pretty simple that way…I just try to see everything from a positive point of view when I can.  That’s not to say that I won’t throw my little hissy fit before I get to the HOPE ~ I’m not that enlightened, but I’m learning!

Are you a glass 1/2 full or 1/2 empty sort?  Are you full of HOPE or despair?

Do you see the impossibility of the situation first or do you see the possibility?

To me, it’s as simple as changing the channel in my head to change the thoughts to HOPE!  Try it today…as you go along your Happy Saturday…see if you can see with eyes of HOPE in all that you do and experience…let me know how it goes!

I’ve got HIGH HOPES for you!

You can’t take it with you…

Spend the afternoon. You can’t take it with you. ~Annie Dillard

I just had to have this card today to celebrate Friday in all its glory!  Happy Friday to YOU!  Although I must admit that Sunday is my favorite day of the week, Friday is a close second for obvious reasons!  Being that it’s still technically a Friday in the summer (one of the last ones), it’s the reason that I’m savoring it all the more.

Life is short.  We’ve all heard the cries of enjoy today, tomorrow is promised to no one.  My blog, my FB, my mantra is enjoying The Presents of Presence…Today is a gift, that’s why they call it the Present!  But do we ever truly think about it?  Perhaps in a fleeting thought at the end of the day or while driving to work or the grocery store…we may contemplate the magnitude of TODAY, but in a blink, the thought is replaced and we are back on the hamster wheel of reality.

For me, I am grateful for every dawn and dusk I see.  I realize how precious this time we have here on Earth is and I want to spend as much of it with my family and friends that I can.  For me, I want to be surrounded by happy, positive people that keep me uplifted and to whom I can reciprocate the optimism and inspire with my words.

Time is fleeting when you think about it.  As I’m getting older and my sons are taller than I am (ok one towers over me, the other one is hovering at my forehead), I realize just how precious the time we’ve had together is and how precious the time we spend together is!  I used to put off until tomorrow because there was always something else going on.  In my head, we had tomorrow to accomplish whatever it was, see whatever we wanted, go wherever we chose, but honestly…tomorrow is promised to nobody.  We will probably have tomorrow, but it’s still a chance…so why not spend today doing something lovely and wonderful with people whom you love!

Give yourself permission today if you have to and just enjoy the afternoon!

Spend it, because you know you can’t take it with you!

Happy Friday!

Hope in the Year of the Dragon

in all things it is better to hope than to despair. —johann wolfgang von goethe

We’ve all had troubles ~ some bigger than others ~ and how we deal with them in the long run ~ makes it a long run.  Know what I mean?  That’s why when I saw this card, I thought it was a good one!  I recently was talking with a new friend I met through blogging who told me that this is the Year of the Dragon.

In researching the Year of the Dragon, I found the following:

Year of the Dragon Overview

Chinese New Year: Year of the Water Dragon

“In a Dragon year, everything is magnified tenfold. And after the rather meat-and-potatoes Metal Rabbit year we just lived through in 2011, we are in for the ride of our lives. Commotion, turmoil and general hullabaloo will characterize the Dragon year ahead. As of January 23, 2012, better get ready to rock and roll — or else crawl under a rock until it’s over.

Think of the Water Dragon year as a 12-month-long, bumpy road with interludes of elaborate and joyful festivity. Fortunes will be made and lost with lightning speed. All events will be charged with a rare intensity. In short, 2012 will be a year of derring-do, hell-raising and exorbitant fun.

Dragon years are favorable for the enterprising and ambitious. If you want to succeed at something major, start early in the Dragon year. Don’t give up. Express yourself openly. Show no fear. In China, it is said that the Dragon year brings luck to those who dare to speak out, to take charge and even to take over.

Dragons are fearless and direct to a fault — but they are not without ruse. They’re clever go-getters who are always in the running for first place. They want to excel at every endeavor. Dragon years, therefore, are propitious for people who have the courage to take risks, to stand fast in the face of danger and hold firmly to their principles. For those among us who are timid and shy, who shrink in the face of challenge and who daren’t speak up for what it is they want, Dragon years can be rigorous and even a little bit frightening at times.

If you are a Fearful Freddy, you won’t need tranquilizers. The Water Dragon won’t charge into your kitchen and grab you by the throat. But the months ahead will be tumultuous, stormy and chock-full of rebellion. Dragons may be despotic, but they’re also benevolent and sentimental. In this coming Dragon year, anyone who’s hurting is going to hoot and holler until they get their fair share.”

Your astrology in the Dragon Year  exclaimed:  “Welcome to 2012, the year of empowerment! Fasten your seat belt because the days ahead are all about accelerated risk-taking and breaking through outmoded paradigms. To thine own self be true — no exceptions! Can you handle it? Of course you can! Just follow the guidance for your Sun sign below and discover how to make the most of all the amazing opportunities ahead. It’s all in the timing, baby!”  See link for more info from this source!

I don’t know about you, but after reading about this Year of the Dragon, I’ve got my lifeline of hope all set!  I’m ready to rumble (storms-a-brewin)  and I’m thinking of going for it!  Heck, after the grasshopper-help experience, I think forward is the only way to leap!

What about you?

Ready to Dragon wrestle with me?

Sunshine

Sunshine

I’m back on sunshine mode…can’t help it really…I figure I’m on the 7 day countdown to my next surgery so I’ve got to spend each day as happily as I can before I go under the knife again.  So, indulge me please.

My story is not uncommon you know…many people have surgery these days for all sorts of issues.  This next one is a typical sports injury ~ torn meniscus.  Of course, I had to go off and tear it vertically and horizontally because that’s what I do!  I do it to the MAX as the Valley Girls used to say!  Oops…did I just age myself?  Who am I kidding!  I am happy to say that this is the first surgery in 10 years that has nothing to do with breast cancer!  Woo Hoo!  Who knew that I’d be whooping it up for such a silly thing.  But hey, I just continue to be grateful for every dawn and dusk that I’m here.  Know what I mean? 🙂

One of the things that help when you’re homebound after any surgery is hearing from a friend.  Sometimes phonecalls are too taxing though because pain meds can make you very sleepy.  Texts and emails are good when you are feeling like you want to communicate and dive back into the cyber world.

However, cards…yes I know I’ve said it before, but cards are the easy answer…takes 2 minutes, a guarantee smile deliverer to the recipient and if you’re feeling frisky, a few Mrs. Field’s brownies, or a small token of thoughtfulness or a gift card for when the patient is up and around is always a nice way to make someone’s day.

As a frequent patient, I can attest to the fact that the mailbox can be a friend or foe.  Medical bills and confusing EOB’s come through that familiar rectangle and junk mail also seems to increase when you’re stuck at home.  Lucky for me, I have a family of friends who know the sheer delight I get when I open the mailbox to find an envelope with my name on it which isn’t a bill, isn’t junk mail and doesn’t require anything else but a smile from me!

I’ve also shared my secret with them that makes it easier on the pocketbook or murse if you’re a man.  It doesn’t require you to change out of your pjs, get off of your computer nor open your wallet each and every time you do it!  You can even schedule your cards up to a year in advance so you can be ready for my next one in October!

I attached a video I just made from a few of the gratitude cards ~ just thought I’d send some love to all of you!  Pick the thank you card that fits you best and know that if I had your address, I’d send you a real one…and if you want, email me and I will…but if you don’t want to share that info with me, just enjoy a little bit of music and some cards to brighten your day, to thank you for reading my blog and to bring you…

SUNSHINE!

Angelic Help

Angels Watching Over Me…

Life has it’s good days and it’s not so good days and in embracing the thunderstorms of late, I am looking forward to the beauty of the rainbow when it arrives.  However, I also realized that lately I’ve been too busy trying to control all aspects of life, trying to do and be everything to everyone in an effort to make the transition easier for all.  I’ve often wished that I could clone myself in order to accomplish all that I see that needs to be done for all of the loved ones in my life.

My thunderstorms are normal I believe because they’re part of nature…and I do enjoy the real weather thunderstorms which come in summer.  The emotional thunderstorms are just a manifestation of what I’ve done or better said, not done.  The last few days, I’ve been too busy to Look Up and Ask for Help!  After I wrote yesterday’s blog, I had a long car ride by myself and during that time, I just allowed myself to talk aloud and say whatever I was feeling at the time.  (Glad there were no human listeners because it was a long winded diatribe!)

As I was emptying myself of my thoughts, I ‘heard’ what I’d been missing…Angelic help!  Funny that me, who believes in Universe/God/Spirit/Angels had gotten so self-involved that I’d forgotten that I don’t have all of the answers, I really don’t control everything and that asking and receiving help is a good thing!  I also forgot how easy my life can be when I allow help and I don’t try to micromanage everything in my life.

So, I began talking with my Angels and God and anyone else who would deem me help-able.  I simply asked to receive help all day and even when I wasn’t asking for help to please help me since I’d forgotten how my life could be so much brighter.   Throughout the day, I tried to remember to ask and thank them for all the help that they were giving me.  I was sure that I was getting help even if I couldn’t see any differences in my life at the time.

When I ran into a string of red lights and then was stuck in traffic, I wondered what fate I’d just been saved from instead of cursing the stop and go driving…and the funny thing was that even though I was stuck in traffic, I arrived in plenty of time to my appointment.  How that worked, I”ll never understand…ahh…the power of Angels.

So my friends, TGIF today…and during your day’s journey, just look up when you can, ask for a little Angelic Help now and then and see what happens.

I wish you Angelic Help today!

I’d love to hear how the Angels work with you as well…
