The Shack

Last night, I curled up on the couch after eating a warm bowl of homemade chicken soup that I had made for my family yesterday while the temperatures dropped into the single digits outside.  Cuddled under a big, fluffy, warm blanket, almost falling asleep, instead I turned on the movie The Shack.  Years ago, I remember reading the book which I found confusing.  So as the movie began, there were parts that I remembered from the book and much that I had forgotten.

I’ve told you about a few movies which I’ve found to be keepers – ones which touched me spiritually and this one, I need to add to that list for you and for me to watch again.  You see, after I finished watching it and dried my tears, I knew I would have to sleep on all that I’d just experienced along with the lead character in order to absorb what I could.  I also know that I will need to watch it again to absorb more, but that I will know when to watch it again – when my mind and body are receptive.

Click here or on the photo of the book to check it out on Amazon.

Have you ever read the book The Shack or seen the movie version?  The book came out in 2007 and the movie in March of 2017.  I would love to hear from you if you’ve already read the book or seen the movie.  I admit that it can be confusing at times and one needs to keep an open mind.

It’s the reminder of God’s presence in all of our lives healing us in a storytelling way.  The theme of love and letting go of the past are such strong universal truths that those are the additional reasons why I recommend reading and watching The Shack.

Forgiveness is part of letting go of the past and as the end of 2017 is upon us, perhaps it’s time to let go of 2017 in order to begin again, our next year, with a clean slate and love in our hearts, minds and souls for all.

Shine your heartlights dear friends.

The time is now to heal our wounds and to be at peace.

Shine On!

    • Thanks for letting me know how you feel! I read the book so long ago that the movie felt good for me to watch. Stay in your innate knowing that the book resonated with you! Thanks for stopping by! ♥

    • Yes dear Rhonda – no time like the present! I didn’t mean for a theme to evolve but it did! God and the Universe always seem to do what’s right, don’t they? May love be the glue that holds your day in its highest form! xo

  1. Loved both! When I read the book, I was at a time in my life where I was on a quest to find that God who was personal to me – not some bearded figure in a white robe in a throne on a cloud. The book explained Father, Son & Holy Spirit in a way I could relate to, for the first time in my (then) 36 years on this planet. Loved the movie too, since I’m a visual person. It moved me to tears and re-validated the notion of PERSONAL/ACCESSIBLE God. Yes, definitely one to read and watch again.

    • Pamela, thank you for sharing as I felt similarly when I read/watched The Shack. It is what I am bringing into 2018 – that comfort of knowing God’s love in all aspects and experiences in my life. Happy New Year to you! xo

  2. And many blessings to you Yvonne, may the New Year be that new beginning in life where we let go of those things that no longer work for us and attract from a more wondrous and beautiful place. Namaste ❤

  3. I read the book shortly after it came out after hearing about it on the radio station I listened to. Someone said, “If you only read one more book in your life, let it be this one… it will change you.” I literally went to the bookstore that day and bought it. I read it and found it confusing too Yvonne and I had SO many questions. I actually went to my priest and asked if she had read it and told her I would love to discuss it. She had not read it at the time but had heard about it and told me she had wanted to read it. And that’s how our church book club was birthed…. with The Shack. We spent many weeks discussing it. My copy is well-worn and is underlined, highlighted and has notes in the margins and printed notes stuck all throughout the book. I read it two more times. I went to see the movie in the theater when it came out. It had been a while since I had read the book, so like you,I had forgotten a lot. I loved the movie too. Now I want to read the book again.

  4. I looked for it on Netflix and it’s not there. I read the book when it came out and wanted everyone to read it but it was not traditional enough for many Christians. It fit perfectly into my philosophy of spiritual growth. As soon as I can find it somewhere, I will watch the movie. I really want to see it. I’m glad you liked it. Thanks for reminding me I wanted to watch it.

    • You are so welcome Marlene! I found it on HBO but perhaps you can find it elsewhere. It’s a keeper for sure. It doesn’t fit with many people’s ideas of God etc., but like you, the essence of a loving trio fit me perfectly spiritually as well. Sometimes opening our minds helps us on our journey. I hope you get a chance to see it and let me know what you think! Happy New Year to you! xoxo
