Help! I’ve Been Hacked!

helpivebeenhacked

Dear Friends,

I’m distraught.  I never use the Instagram account that I set up a long time ago, but today a friend told me that there were some photos on there that she knew were not something I would post.  So I went in to see what was going on and found out that a hacker changed the password and email address associated with my account so I can’t even log in!

I’ve spent over 2 hours trying to figure out what to do and how to remedy the situation, but to no avail.  Instagram has no contact information that I could find on their website nor on their ‘help’ section that would help if your email/password for your account has been changed without your knowledge.  I am just sick over this as the photos are not something that I want associated with my blog.  Why in the world would someone do this?  It’s inconceivable to me why people spend time doing mean things.

Please help if you can!  Any suggestions, advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!  I never heard from Instagram that my password or email was changed.

Shine On!

xo

  1.  I so empathize Yvonne, similar feelings of just being lost in an overly large system where bizaare things just come at us and we feel like sitting ducks. Things that have never happened before but are now here. I am sorry and I truly get the way this feels………… Holding space, sending love.

    • Thank you Iris. I needed your love and relish the kindness you are sending and as always, I return loving support to you! Thank you for understanding…xo

  2. I hope you get this sorted out, it’s so frustrating! I’m sorry this happened to you. I don’t use Instagram so not much help with that I’m afraid.

    • I have no idea honestly David. But I am realizing I’m not the only one it’s happening to unfortunately. There are many more who have personal family photos on it which luckily I never did.

  3. I am so sorry this is happening to you. I have never opened an Instagram account. Barely opened FB and did that with a pseudonym. My son makes me very cautious online. It helps to have someone around that has a relative amount of knowledge but even tech support, (as we refer to him) doesn’t use his real name on FB or have many accounts because he trusts so little. It’s just not always nice out there.

  4. I received pictures from your account and reported every picture as spam to Instagram! Try to contact Facebook as Instagram has zero contact information..the number they provide is a joke! I was locked out of my account and had to start a new one. Facebook and Instagram are connected from a login stand point…you might have a better shot! Sorry this happened to you!!
