Why Do You Blog?

whyblog

“One starts an action simply because one must do something.”
– T.S. Eliot

I found this quote which for me perfectly answers the question many of us have been asked.

Why do you blog?

Is it to meet others?  Is it to practice the craft of writing?  Is it to inform?  Do you blog to promote your business?  Connect with others?  Share experiences?  Gain international friendships?  What is your reason?

Please share!

Shine On!

  1. I blog because I enjoy it and like to read what other people are thinking about life on this planet. I do have a business tutoring in writing and public speaking and editing books, brochures, etc. and if anyone wants my help, that would be wonderful,
but it is not my primary reason for blogging.

  2. I blog because it is great fun meeting other people all over the world. Learning of other cultures and travelling along to different places in photos of other bloggers. I like to post and make ohters happy and smile, bring some sunshine into lives.

  3. I blog for several different reasons—-to become a better writer, to share with the community of bloggers, to share what’s going on in my life with family and friends that I can’t be with physically, to feel like I am contributing somehow to someone somewhere, and because of the people that I find through blogging like YOU!

  4. I began blogging 8 years ago because I wanted to instill the discipline of daily morning writing — and blogging seemed the best way to keep myself accountable.

I am still blogging 8 years later because it continues to inspire my day, and it connects me with people — like you and all the other amazing people I’ve met and connected with through this milieu. I have a deep-seated desire to make a difference in the world, and I believe, sharing the awe and wonder I experience everyday is one way to do that.

  5. I began blogging the perks of having cancer (www.perksofcancer.com) as a little project to keep my spirits up during treatments. I never imagined where my “little project” would take me and how it has enriched my life!

  6. I started blogging because it was a fun way for me to (over)share what was going on in my life. It’s still fun but I have also grown to love the blogging community (including you!) that has embraced me, warts and all. 🙂

  7. I had a lot of stories in my head about my cat, and I wanted to do something with that, so I started blogging about my cat…actually, my cat started blogging and needed a typist…Anyway, I had no idea that it was a place to meet so many people along the way, and that there are so many more who had the samen ideas, that makes it so much fun. You meet so much people, you see so many lovely, different blogs, creativity in different ways, people and animals that you can easily enclose in your heart, People that make you laugh and cry. There is so much to learn here and I’m so proud to be a part of this community. For me it’s the place to be at this moment, I don’t want anything else 🙂 Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend 🙂

  8. It started as a way to share my creations and journey, but has become so much more than that. It is now a way to connect with many good-hearted people around the world. People like you.

    • Oh Russ, I feel the same way about you and your writings! You’ve accomplished so much in the short time I’ve known you! All your books, your songs and your creativity not to mention your amazing blog! Keep shining! ♥

  9. Great question. I blog as a kind of “therapy” – it’s like a diary or prayer, as well as a tribute to God, written with the view of also encouraging others.

  10. It started out to practice my writing – little did I know I would meet some wonderful people so I guess I stay blogging because I enjoy writing and I love my fellow bloggers – you included!! 🙂

  11. I started to blog to keep a record of my Lymph node transfer which was very new surgery and I felt I should keep a record as I could find nothing from patients on the internet…. From there it GREW to become a resource for people having this surgery, we now have a community of LNT patients!!! I had no idea how it would impact others and also help me to feel less isolated with this health issue.. ❤️❤️❤️plus the amazing blogging community I am now part of!! 😃😃

    • Helen, that is why I love your blog because you have incorporated everyone into it ~ you’ve made your own special community of helpers along the path of lymph node difficulties! You shine Helen! Keep healing! xoxo

  12. I blog on a twist of an arm from a friend. 😉
I enjoy sharing pictures, thoughts & poems.
And – I continue to blog because of the peeps I’ve met along the way. It’s great to have met such wonderful people that I would not have probably met otherwise. Now I have peeps around the world!

  13. To be honest, the reason why I started blogging is because of my online store…but I think I have somehow strayed away from the initial intention as time passes by and it has already been 2 years…LOL…

    Cheers!! 😀
